This made it much more stable when painted or protected from weather; however, it was not possible to adjust eyelets on these mounts so they would be tailored specifically to the rider's preferences. 4. 1982-1984 - aftermarket mounting companies begin producing their own "extension" style mounts that incorporated two screws at either end of a tube (rather than just one screw per hole), making them even more stable and versatile; however, this resulted in some riders finding that their bikes were too unstable on these mounts, as there was no way to adjust them for desired height or angle.
Ridgefield is a town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. Ridgefield was incorporated as a township on March 15, 1814, from portions of Dover Township. The name comes from the ridge which forms the eastern border of the town and its location on high ground along the valley floor made it an important early transportation point. Ridgefield's first post office opened in 1815. The town was renamed to Ridgefield after Samuel Ridge, an American Revolutionary War general and one of its founders. Ridgefield was originally part of Sussex County until 1784 when it became a part of Middlesex County. It remained part of Middlesex County until 1912 when it became a part of New Jersey. In 1916, Ridgefield became the seat of Middlesex County government and has since been known as its most populous municipality. The population of Ridgefield reached approximately 93,000 by 2010 according to Census estimates. The township was initially laid out into lots on which were built small houses called "homes" or "camps." By 1830 there were over 100 homes in operation in Ridgefield; however only about 38 remain today due to demolition or conversion into apartments or other uses such as hotels and motels. Ridgefield was first settled by Europeans in the 17th century. The original home of the Ridgefield family, a tributary of the Dutch and Huguenot families who founded what is now New Jersey, was built near present-day Mount Holly. In 1677, Samuel Ridgefield acquired title to a tract of land east of Princeton that he named for his father, John Ridgefield. The ridge in which Ridgefield reside today is named for him and his descendants. In 1776, during the American Revolution, General George Washington's forces fought their way up the Delaware River Valley to Trenton from New Brunswick. They encountered strong resistance from British forces at Battle of Princeton (1776). On July 4th, 1776, Washington's army crossed the river at Trenton and celebrated its successful crossing with a public dinner at the house of Colonel Nicholas Easton. The event marks one of the most important moments in American history. The Revolutionary War ended with America's independence on November 8th, 1783. General George Washington returned to America and quickly resumed his role as president of the United States. RidgeFIELD became part of what is now Sussex County after it was reorganized as a county on January 1st 1812 under Governor Robert Morris.
