In 1924, following passage by the New Jersey Legislature of Assembly Bill No. 7 (A BILL TO ESTABLISH A NEW TOWNHOUSE IN RIDGEFIELD) which would create new townships within Middlesex County including Crestwood-North Caldwell-Parsippany-Ridgefieldtownshipthe entire township then came under incorporation process as did both Deer Park and ParsippanyTownships on November 3 that year becoming fully incorporated municipalities with their own governments separate from those of their core communities with responsibility for police protection programs etc., becoming known as "Middlesex Boroughs".
