Ridgefield Park is a town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 17,636 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark– blaster metropolitan area. Ridgefield Park was established as a township on April 12, 1814 by order of Governor James K. Polk. On July 1, 1866, Ridgefield Township became an incorporated borough and was renamed Ridgefield Park after its original namesake. Borough officials were given authority to establish streets and public squares within the borough limits and these activities continued until January 1, 1970 when all borough functions were transferred to the newly formed Newark– blaster Metropolitan Area. The town of Ridgefield Park was founded on October 16, 1876 by two English immigrants named John Denton and Robert Myrick with assistance from their families living in Uniontown Township. The first settler in what would become Ridgefield Park was Amos Fenton who arrived on October 25th of that year with his family from Cherry Hill Township near MorristownNJ After a few years there were only 8 residents in this small settlement which had been organized under the name "Uniontown". The first school opened in 1879 which taught children between the ages of 7-12 years old but soon enough other schools (including one for girls) opened as well so that by 1883 there were 11 schools operating in Ridgefield Park! In 1886 itwas reported that there were over 100 people living in Rutherford Twp., now part of East Brunswick NJ In 1903 some sawed off branches from trees next to Rte 9 leading out into the open fields behind home causing Mrs Gifford to call for help from her husband who then chopped down those branches himself! This event started what would be called "The War Against Trees" as many people began to fearGovernor John Fenton commissioned surveyors to look into how much wood could be removed safely without damaging or removing any trees! After 5 months no progress had been made however Fenton decided against having anyone come back because he felt that any such report would endanger his political position! In 1905 some residents got together and formed a ladies club known as “The Ladies” which met monthly at 4pm outside Mrs Gifford’s house until 1921 when it moved indoors due to union difficulties! In 1915 they built their own hall/library across the street from their previous building which still stands today! In 1923 they also acquired land east of campus where they built an athletic stadium which served as our local version of Yankee Stadium before being sold off to Rutgers University who used it as an Astrodome before finally demolishing it in 2006! From 1925-1950 they also operated a bakery/cafeteria located on Main Street opposite First Presbyterian Church (now demolished) . In 1950 their laststore closed after many years Of service !!Now comes yet another era for RidgefieldPark with plans for several new businesses including:(1) An arts center designed by architect Saul Bass with commercial space available;(2) A medical office complex consisting of 3 clinics and Drs offices;(3) A golf club complete with 6 hole course;(4)A housing development called "Newmark's Pointe";and finally (5)(6)(7)(8)(9)(10)[11](12)[13](14)[15][16] Statue commemorating Battle Creek Massacre victims erected 1920

Today, tasers are still used widely by law enforcement officers throughout North America and Europe, but their use is slowly becoming more restricted in many places due to concerns about their potential to cause serious harm or death.
In late 1984, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department received a request for service from the Venice Police Department. The Venice police department had observed several incidents in which people were tased while resisting arrest. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department responded to Venice with the intent of conducting its own study of tasing techniques. The sheriff's department was not familiar with the use of tasers and requested that the Venice Police Department provide information on how they worked. The Venice Police Department provided a report on their experiences with tasers, and also offered demonstration sessions for sheriff's deputies who wanted to try out the devices. In 1987, both agencies collaborated to create an anthology of case studies called "Taser: A collector's guide." This book provides an overview of cases involving contact weapons used by law enforcement officers in the United States.
