At AOC, Ridgefield Park Camera Store owners continued marketing telescopes under their own name until 1984 when they merged with English Optics Ltd., making English Optics one of the world’s largest telescope dealers. Throughout its history, Ridgefield Park Camera Store has been an important part of optics and telescope history.

It is part of the New York City metropolitan area and is adjacent to Manhattan on the southern border of Westchester County. The Ridgefield Park Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. The first settlers in what would become Ridgefield Park were owner-builders who arrived around 1814 from Connecticut. They chose a section of rural Morris Township where they had large tracts of land to work and raised corn, hay, potatoes, apples, and other crops until 1836 when Congress passed an act providing for township organization. The first trustees were George Washington Smith (1810-1892), Samuel Fenton (1799-1876), John Hartsgrove (1800-1868), and Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865). In 1838 Ridgefield Park became part of Morristown; it remained so until its merger with Hempstead Township on April 1, 1960. In 1951 President Harry S Truman issued Executive Order 9995 which ordered all school districts be merged into one statewide education system. This order created Middlesex County's first school district and also affected Ridgefield Park as it was within its boundaries; however there was no such order affecting neighboring Hempstead Township which remained separate until 1960 when both districts were combined into one statewide education system under Governor Nelson Rockefeller's leadership. In 1969 residents voted to rejoinMorris Township after more than 50 years living in separate institutions called "Hempstead". According to the US Census Bureau , the town has a total area of , including 0.8 acre (0% built upon) waterfront property located along East River beach frontage west of Elizabeth Avenue: . Of this land, 2% is covered by water.. As of the census[1]of 2010, 23,541 people lived in Ridgefield Park borough while 15,711 resided in Ridgewood Borough form both townships are being consolidated according to plans by Mayor Joseph Curtice Jr., whodescribed consolidation as necessary because Ridgewood provides more services such as firefighting and police protection than does either borough
