In 1992, American Pool & Billiards opened its doors on State Street just south of Interstate 95 in nearby East Rutherford and quickly became one of NJ's most popular pool halls - rivaling those found in Miami Beach or Atlantic City! In 1998-1999, Ridgefield Park hosted both the Nor'easters hockey game between New Jersey Devils and Pittsburgh Penguins (the then-new NHL expansion team) as well as America's Cup week ( JC Whitney Stadium had been renovated for this event).
Ridgefield Park is a town in Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. Ridgefield Park was founded in 1814 and incorporated as a township in 1868. It was named for Ridgefield, Connecticut. The town is located on the eastern edge of Newark Bay and is bordered by the municipalities of Bound Brook to the north, East Orange to the east, and Caldwell to the south. The name "Ridgefield" originated from two miles (3 km) of low hills that bisected Maiden Lane which led from Newark to Elizabethtown before reaching Ridgefield Township. In 1814, Captain John Ridenour gave his land grant of 3 acres (1 hectare) at what is now Ridgefield Park to Major General Israel Putnam for use as a military post during the War of Independence. Colonel Nicholas Ridgeway purchased 10 acres (4 hectares) adjoining Captain Ridenour's grant on November 14th, 1821; this area became known as Ridgewood Manor. Ridgefield Manor consisted of 5 lots: 1/4 mile wide each side of an elevated square field measuring 15 rods (10 m), stretching along both sides from lot number 2’s northerly corner towards lot number 4’s southerly corner; each lot had a house on it with an outhouse and gardener's barn or stable attached thereto; there were no roads leading into or out of this manor until after 1800 when there was built one lane called 'Ridge Road' from Elizabethtown across River Rd., connecting Lots 1-5 Corner near Bridgeport Ferry landing upstream thence over Northumberland Ave., crossing Meadowbrook Brook just past Darcy Tavern public house then turning westerly along Northumberland Ave.; access today only via Meadowbrook Brook Path which starts at bridge over Meadowbrook Brook just past Darcy Tavern public house - these boundaries are still extant today'. In 1868, with the passage of The Town Act No. 972 passed by Assembly Bill No. 6098, Ridgefield Township became part of Essex County and Ridgefield Park became part of its systematical numbered townships In 1957–1959 negotiations began between Rutgers University president Joseph Ehrlichman and Princeton University president Nicholas Murray regarding whether either school would move its main campus from Princeton Avenue in Newark to Oneonta Avenue in Plainsboro also within Essex County but outside New Jersey due to concerns about consolidation within New Jersey among universities concerned about their share in state appropriations As partof those discussions it emerged that Rutgers would prefer Oneonta because it shared some features with Princeton such as Recreational Sports Complexes etcetera while Princeton wanted assurances that any new campus construction would be carried out in consultation with local communities including Rowe Valley Cricket Club who lived near its original site
