Ridgefield Park is a small town in New Jersey, United States. The population was 15,745 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Middlesex County metropolitan area. The Ridgefield Park ZIP code includes all of Ridgefield Township and much of West Egg on Long Island Sound. The name "Ridgefield" comes from two English settlements: one near what is now Ridgefield Park, the other on Long Island Sound where settlers had built homes in 1725-27. In 1834, when Robert Moses purchased 1/4 mile (1 km) of land east of present-day Ridgefield Village for £3 deed from Jacob Weingarten and his brother Isaac, they named their new community after Moses's family home in Congers, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. Moses began to build his first house in what is now Ridgefield Park on October 25th, 1835 – just a few weeks after he acquired the land from Weingarten and his brother. By 1840, he had started construction on several more houses and by 1845 had built up an sizable community around his homes – which became known as "Mosesville". He named one of these Homes "Mount Moriah" in memory of Mount Sinai (then still considered a holy site), where God appeared to prophets during the Israelites' crossing over the Jordan River into Canaan in Joshua 7:14-20. “The Townsite or Homeplace of Mr. Moses was located upon some high ground about three miles distant from any settlement whatsoever; it lay upon Easton Creek between two ranges called Mount Moriah and Beechwood Hills…. There were then but six families living within this place who paid taxes thereto; since Mr. Moses moved thence they have all removed away with him." In 1884–1885″the extensive real estate developmentAUBURN HILLS & ROCKY MOUNTAIN GARAGE"" led to calls for another name change for RidgefieldPark as well - to ""Hollywood"" because established movie stars such as Clark Gable and James Stewart frequently visited there while filming American films in those days.. But despite many suggestions including ""Edgewater"" throughout 1916 until finally1965 when ""RidgeFIELD PARK - A Tribute to its People"" was published which included photosynthesis chartsof local flora & fauna alongside historical background informationwas not accepted by locals so Hollywood reverted back to its original name until 2004 when ??? finally changed it back again

Ridgefield Park is a borough in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 7,890 at the 2010 census. Ridgefield Park was originally part of Rahway Township and was annexed by Morris County in 1876. The first European settlers arrived in what is now Ridgefield Park on December 10, 1692, when Englishman John Smith and his family arrived from Virginia as part of the Jamestown Colony. They named their new land "New Netherland" after the Dutch colony of New Netherland. Later that same year, Susanna Weymouth founded a small town called Rahway on the eastern edge of present-day Ridgefield Park. In 1714, Isaac Norris established an estate near what is now Ridgewood Avenue and Westwood Road in present-day Ridgefield Park. In 1768, Nicholas Sprague purchased land east of present-day Roosevelt Boulevard in what is now Northridge Township and built him a mansion which became known as Sprague's Castle. In 1876, following the consolidation of many smaller towns into Morris County, Ridgefield Park was annexed by the larger municipality. At that time it had a population of 1,200 residents. The name 'Ridgefield' originated with a pastoral tract of land along Ridges Creek which had been surveyed by Samuel Gibbs for Andrew Jackson in 1802 (Gibbs Map). After years of growth and development within Morris County through annexation and other efforts spurred by Mayor James O'Neill's vision for economic development within the borough (O'Neill Plan), Ridgefield Park reached its current size with 3,471 residents upon incorporation on April 14th 1991; making it one of Jersey City's five Boroughs with over 2 million citizens residing within its borders! Today there are numerous cultural institutions located within or adjacent to this vibrant community including: Morristown Museum District - home to over 60 museum pieces covering history from prehistory to modern times including 5 restored ancient Egyptian tombs; Giant Panda Habitat - home to China’s only panda sanctuary complete with replica enclosure and outdoor exhibit; Beecham Library - one stop shop for books related to all things Garden State; Phillips Music Hall - world renowned classical music venue that has hosted such acts as Mahler & Strauss; Joe Pesci Arena - home to both professional teams throughout their seasons as well as local events such as arts festivals/concerts throughout summer months; Woodbridge Recreation Center – largest municipally funded recreation center in NJ open to everyone without charge – perfect place for kids during summer days...the list goes on!
