Ridgefield Park is home to several large estates including those of Abraham Lincoln and Edwin Stanton as well as smaller estates belonging to numerous families. The 20th century saw many changes take place in Ridgefield Park with construction beginning on what would become known as "The Ring Road" which connected Newark Liberty Airport with Parsippany Junction (later Parsippany), then continuing southeast into Haddon Township before terminating at an intersection with Uptown Hackensack. In recent years there has been talk of increasing development within Ridgefield Park so much so that some people have called it an "urban village". There has also been concern raised about gentrification which could lead to displacement of local residents without their consent or ability to participate in decisions made about development within the community. Despite these concerns, developers continue to invest in Ridgefield Park making it one of New Jersey's most vibrant communities

Ridgefield Park is a city in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 31,971 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark-Camden-Elizabeth Metropolitan Statistical Area. Ridgefield Park was founded on October 15, 1868 by Captain John Ridge and his wife Sarah. The town grew rapidly due to its location near Morristown and Trenton and its natural resources; coal and timber were the primary exports from Ridgefield Park until the early 21st century. Railroads brought new settlers to Ridgefield Park in the late 19th century, starting with farmers who arrived during the Civil War era to work on Union plantations. By 1920, there were over 50 businesses in Ridgefield Park. In 1930, Ridgefield Park became an incorporated municipality under state law following a referendum vote by its residents. In 1971, after years of planning by Mayor James Tormey and City Manager Maurice Weingarten, Ridgefield Park opened its first library which still operates today (the second being opened in 1984). ThisLibrary has helped make Ridgefield Park one of the most livable communities in Morris County as well as providing access to many cultural artifacts from around the world that are now on display throughout several museums in Parsippany Township adjacent to ridgefields park library complex including: Parsippany Museum of Art & History; Parsippany Township Historical Society; Tower Hill Community Library (now called Borough Hall) On July 1st 1922 – just over 100 years ago today - RidgefieldPark had it's first birth when 3 men – Captain John Ridges sons Amos & Israel “Jerry” Ridges took out a $200 mortgage for 10 acres west of present day Main Street where they built what would become their home known as "The House". The house still stands today within our community limits along with a few other older houses dating back to this time period also located within our boundaries namely: "The White House" which still remains parked off Route 9 North next door currentlyoccupied by local senior citizens living below ground level awaiting demolition or conversion into housing units according to current plans developed by NJ Advance Media prior to Hurricane Sandy... all these old homes were long gone before Hurricane Sandy hit!
Ridgefield Park is a census-designated place (CDP) in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the CDP had a population of 381. The area was named for Ridgefield Manor, which was located within its boundaries at the time of European settlement.
