Red Bank is a town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 2,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark–Trenton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first gun barrels were made in Red Bank around 1775 by Nicholas Toscanini and his friends. Toscanini was a clothier who also owned a forge and tool shop in Red Bank. He would take pieces of brass or iron and turn them into barrels with hoops on top to make bows and arrows. By 1827, John Fenton started making guns in Red Bank as well. In 1837, Eli Whitney began producing arms for the U.S military at his factory in Camden Township near Princeton Junction. By 1855, all manufacturing had stopped due to crime rates in New Jersey being too high for people to afford firearms legally (at that time it was still an unregulated state).
Red Bank is a city in New Jersey, United States. The population was 7,821 at the 2010 census. It forms the core of the Red Bank–Ocean View–Middlesex borough which was created on July 1, 2007 from part of Monmouth Township. Red Bank's history goes back to 1681 when it was known as "Reedstown". The name derived from Dutch settlers who came there in 1681 and named it after Captain Hendrick Reeder, leader of a group that journeyed from Holland through what is now Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In 1703, English colonists founded Prospect Hillborough on the site where Red Bank now stands. They renamed it Red Bank after their victory over King George II during the Battle of Bunker Hill. In 1814, the town became part of Middlesex County and was incorporated as a village under the name of RedBank. On October 14, 1871, it became an independent municipality when portions of Sussex County were annexed to Middlesex County. The population reached 10,000 by 1902 and 15,000 by 1920; however due to World War I bombings (the first such attacks in America), population growth slowed markedly until 1940 when it hit 20,000 again before declining slightly until 1960 when it reached its current figure of 7,821 residents

Red Bank, New Jersey is a borough in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 6,953 at the 2010 census. The name of the borough was taken from the town of Red Bank in Mercer County from which it takes its name. The first European settlers in what would become Red Bank were Dutch and English colonists who arrived there in 1664. The Dutch established a small trading post on the Paterson River (now known as Hackensack) and began to grow crops. In 1672, the English founded a small colony near Whitehouse Station on the Delaware River called Haverford Township. They soon abandoned this settlement because of difficulties getting food and water supplies; however, they continued to presence in Red Bank until 1702 when they withdrew completely due to Indian attacks. British colonists started arriving in large numbers starting in 1714. By 1727, nearly all of Monmouth County had been acquired by Great Britain and Monmouthshire became part of Gloucestershire Regiment under Colonel John Popham commanding 1/12th Dragoons Regiment with its headquarters at Chelmsford Castle before moving permanently to Red Bank on 4 September 1727Issue: Feb-Mar 2009 In 1871, both American and British forces fought during the American Revolutionary War at Battle of Princeton while Fortification works were being erected around town In 1881–82 a new bridge over the Paterson River was built connecting Red Bank with Paramus; this bridge remain functional today On 9 May 1903 an act authorizing formation of Middlesex County was passed by Congress Red Banks incorporation as an independent township occurred on 20 October 1903 On 3 November 1906 an act providing for addition of Essex County to New Jersey occurred through Act No., 2268; these boundaries would later change slightly New Brick High School was constructed adjacent to present day Borough Hall beginning service on 11 December 1911 “The legacy of Red Bank” is proclaimed annually by various organizations throughout different periods throughout history including 10k walk/run held each year culminating into BoroughHall parade
Red Bank, New Jersey is a town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 8,927 at the 2010 census. Red Bank was founded on December 10, 1766 by Nicholas-Jacques Vallandigham and his wife Catherine Short. It was named for the banks of the Raritan River which were then part of what is now Burlington County. The first white settler in Red Bank Township was John Fenton who arrived in 1775. He built a log cabin on the south bank of the Raritan River and named it "Fenton's Ferry". Another early settler, Jonas Decker, arrived in 1776 and settled along the west side of today's Main Street. In 1802, John Pugh leased land from Nicholas-Jacques Vallandigham for a gristmill which he began to operate that year. However, when Andrew D'Alonzo became governor of New Jersey in 1802 and revoked Vallandigham's lease, Pugh lost his mill site and operations stopped. In 1814–1815 Colonel George Washington Marshall led an army through Mercer County during the American Revolutionary War to support General George Washington's effort to retake Philadelphia from British forces under Lieutenant-General William Howe. When news reached Red Bank that General Washington had landed at Yorktown on October 19th (October Campaign), residents raised candles throughout their homes to send him welcome back with open arms! The birthday cake enjoyed by many residents still remains today as an annually scheduled event at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Red Bank honoring General Washington's birthday! Red Bank first attracted attention as a commercial center when James McCarter developed an artificial harbor on present day tidal Lake Hudson opposite what is now Second Avenue South east of where today's State Road 9 intersects First Avenue South (later renamed Delaware Avenue). With this new harborageMcCarter became one of earliest developers around hereabouts who started erecting warehouses/factories along present day Delaware Avenue including "The Warehouse" later known as Bethlehem Steel Corporation Headquarters building located at 5th Street & 4th Ave S., just east of modern day Third Street between 2nd & 3rd Avenues South
