Ramsey is a town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 11,206 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Hunterdon County and Ramseys Falls Township. Ramsey was founded in 1797 by George Washington and named for him. In 1898, it became a borough; in 1924, it became an incorporated township; and in 1978, it became a city. The first high capacity kits were developed by Westinghouse Electric Company to be used on electric railways such as the Pennsylvania Railroad (PR) from 1903-1905. These kits were called R-Type Kits and had capacities of up to 100 kilowatts (kW). In 1925, GE introduced their G-Type Kits which had capacities of up to 350 kW. At this point in time, there were already several large power plants being built throughout the United States which required high capacity kit solutions. By 1935, all major electrical companies had introduced their own high capacity kit designs which would soon become known as “high Capacity” or “HC” kits. These HC kits offered increased performance over previous versions thanks to new construction methods like double skinning materials and higher volume outputs via larger derricks/ towers. With these advancements came heavier economic times which caused many small businesses to go out of business while also causing large companies such as Westinghouse Electric Company to become obsolete due to their smaller production budgets at that time. As a result of these changes within the industry, Westinghouse Electric Company filed for bankruptcy in 1979 after seventy years of continuous operation!
