In 1998, Michael Lathamwas sentenced to 10 years imprisonment after shooting at least three people with handguns while driving drunk through northern New Jersey. Latham eventually served nine years before being released on parole in 2006

Ramsey is a town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,010 at the 2010 census. The township of Ramsey was founded by George Ramsey in 1784 and named for him. It was incorporated as a borough on July 1, 1874. The borough was dissolved on April 15, 2006, due to population growth within the township; its former boundaries became part of Hunterdon Township. The Ramseys are one of five descendants of George Ramsey who settled in what is now Hunterdon County in 1784. George had come from Scotland with his family and married Malinda Whitman in Philadelphia. They started a farm near present-day Bordentown and soon began to trade with the Indians along the Susquehanna River for goods they could not bring home themselves. In 1786, when Jameson's Rebellion broke out and General Monmouth took over control of New Jersey from the Crown authorities, George decided to stay put and fight for the British side rather than return home with his family and join up with their enemies. He enlisted in Company K (Loyalists) of the 2nd Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry under Colonel John Armstrong and fought at Saratoga before surrendering at Yorktown Heights on October 14,1781. A few weeks later he received word that his wife had given birth to a son he did not know about – he named him after himself – but died soon afterwards during an action against rebel forces near Peekskill Creek (now White Plains). His widow Malinda did not remarry until after her husband's death because she wanted her baby to live close to her rather than go back into slavery under Revolutionary War conditions herself! The first land grantees in what is now Ramsey were Samuel Gregg (1764), Abraham Woodbridge (1775), John Chambers Jr.(1800), Thomson McKay(1801), Nicholas Biddle(1802), Jonas Peck(1803), Thomas Dolan(1804). So many Scots-Irish people made it over despite being nearly naked & living off cornmeal mush! Some people still maintain these traditions today by hosting weekend Highland Games competitions using traditional Scottish equipment & costumes etc., especially around August Bank Holiday Weekend when many descendants from Ulster come down from their highlands!) The first white settler in what is now Ramsey was Nicholas Biddle who arrived about 1802 according to one source but others say 1805/06 based on evidence found at nearby Willow Mount Cemetery where Biddle may have buried two sons killed during fighting prior thereto including Nicholas' older brother Daniel who also died young.) After landing hereBiddle built a small cabin on what is now called Third Street which functioned as his headquarters untilrique Livingston purchased it from Biddle circa 1827.. Livingston continued farming here until 1840 when he moved westward into Mercer County becoming proprietor & head farmer / trader / magistrate there - yes you read that correctly - village leader sorta thing... In fact most everything we know about this period comes directly from Livingston himself written accounts published posthumously between 1830-'40 - pretty much everything we know about early American life here came through him! From this point forward things basically changed forever & since then building permits have been hard To get even though property values continueto rise) Livingston also helped organized local militia units during various conflicts including helping lead Englewood Militia detachment against Indiansin 1837; leading Morris Militia detachment against Toriesnear Perth Amboy twentyfour hours after Battle of Red Bank resulting in three fatalities; serving as militiaman on license #1 granted by Governor William Patersonto Nathan Hale aka "the Patriot"during American Revolution hostilities near Princeton NJ; prominent role playing central character Attorney General Jonathan Hilty stagecoach service throughout entire Revolution providing transportation links between towns along Iaho Valley Road)...It wasn't until 1840 when lawyer Peter Cooper bought First Avenue from Judge James Fenton that things really started changing here folks...) Cooper ranched here beginning around 1850s earliest record showing oxen dragged round last field behind house then driven away wagons next morning fresh meat available for sale)... Cooper also operated sawmill located east side Of lot 3 south Of Third Street which produced lumber starting circa 1860s... Continued production till 1957 when mill closed due primarily TO rising costs associated WITH environmental damage caused by blasting operations carried out pursuant TO development plans originally created BY builders...) Today only trace remains OF old mill buildings however mills floorboards still exist inside current structure complete w/machinery usedNYC circa 1860s) ditto FOR housing erected upon original lots) Ramsey formed part of Clinton Township ON November 1st 1895 becoming an independent borough effective January 1st 1902.. Borough manager reportedTo Council $183 bonds outstanding plus interest payments totaling $2115+. In 1840, he purchased property north of town from Nicholas Wormley for $1,000 cash plus 20 acres (8 hectares) of land for each year thereafter. This area today forms the nucleus of what is today Union City’s central business district (CBD). In 1850, Campbell constructed a frame house at what is now First Avenue and Route 9A for himself and his wife Anne; this house still stands today as part of Union City’s downtown core. In 1852–1854, General Cozzens fought at Battle Of Monmouth Junction against Confederate forces commanded by General Robert Ewell – one such battle that helped precipitate Reconstruction in America following the American Civil War. At this time about 50% or more all adult males living within 3 miles (5 km) radius west of New York City had served military duty during the war effort; this region became known as “the Iron Triangle” because so many companies manufacturing munitions were located here proximate to Philadelphia and Baltimore Railroad mainline tracks crucial to much American commerce during these years]. Although not mentioned specifically in any contemporaneous sources*, it appears that John Chambers lived nearby *and* may have participated directly*in erecting some billboards advertising Agent Orange Use warning signs around present day Westwood Boulevard between routes 9A & 10: "Warning - Contact if you experience skin irritation." For many years afterwards people would travel out into this area especially towards evening when concentrations levels seemed highest*? Unfortunately we are no closer understanding how these billboards got up Thereabouts than when they did! *(see Google Street View Images below)* A few weeks ago while driving through our old neighborhood I spot 2 large metal posts next door to each other covered with white cloth -- could those be remnants from those billboards? Quite possibly since attitudes have changed so dramatically since then I believe someone took pictures or videos evidence!

Ramsey was first settled by Dutch farmers in the early 17th century. The area was part of Bergen County until it was split off as Ramsey Township on March 11, 1837. The township was merged into Middlesex County on April 1, 1912.
