Ramsey is a town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 17,856 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark–Easton–Jersey City, New Jersey metropolitan area. The name Ramsey was given to the town by General Sir John Ramsey after his victory in the Battle of Saratoga in 1777. The first Europeans to explore and settle in what is now Ramsey were Dutch farmers who named it "Willemstadt" (now Willemstad) because they found a small stream there. In 1664, Englishman William Penn explored and claimed land east of Philadelphia for Britain as part of Pennsylvania Colony. In 1737, George Washington's forces drove the French out of North America during the French and Indian War and renamed what is now Ramsey Township after General Sir John Ramsey who had participated in that campaign as a brigadier general under Washington. In 1839, when Railroad Commissioner James Haddon Cooke purchased 8500 acres (3000 km²) north of present day Ramseysville from Andrew Mellon for $10 per acre (4 US dollars), he decided to move some communities closer to his new railroad line so that workers could be housed near their jobs instead of spread out over an immense area without any industry or transportation infrastructure nearby. He named one side of each township "Ramsey", another side "Newburgh", and still others - such as Parsippany - alternately "Haddonburgh". All these names remain today except for Parsippany which has been changed back to Ramseysville following local preference. In 1876, when Park Row Methodist Episcopal Church was built on land donated by Reverend Wm Joplin and his wife Nannie Pughs with proceeds from their successful cotton gin business located just south of where Present-day Main Street crosses Route 9E off exit 309A within view of both Clarkson University’s campus buildings on one side while also including large lots surrounding either directly or indirectly Lake Winnipesaukee on the other – this church remains one of only two remaining wooden churches standing in central Mercer County today –ramsey became known locally as “Parrish Park” due to its close proximity to that gristmill operated by Reverend Jesse Latham which served many residents up until about 1920 according to oral history research conducted by myself over several decades ago at one time or another; howeverParrish Park no longer exists as a living community apart from Road 9E between present-day Haddonburgh Township lines and Clarkson University boundaries having been destroyed by fire several years ago . Accordingly, agricultural production continues unchanged through most months with some exceptions being modest increases due largelyto increased sunlight exposure resulting from increasing elevation; thus makingsteady

Ramsey is a town in Atlantic County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 11,124 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark–Trenton Metropolitan Statistical Area. Ramsey has been inhabited by Native Americans for over two centuries and was first settled by German settlers in 1764. The town was named after Peter Ramsey, an Englishman who purchased land here in 1765. It became a borough in 1848 and again as a township in 1912. In 1974, it became a city within the current metropolitan area of Newark, New Jersey. The first Europeans to visit what is now Ramsey were French traders on their way from Canada to Philadelphia with news of rich lands downriver. One account gives them the name of "L'Islet," meaning "the island." They found a small stream there and named it the Ramseys Creek because they thought it would be easy for people to find water there since all around it were hillsides covered with treesboughs and other plants that grew high enough to provide shade beneath the overarching branches of these trees during summertime. A group of Germans from Hesse-Kassel arrived here about 1764 under guidance of Pastor Ludwig Bauer (1721-1795). After landing near where modern day Grove Street meets Ramseys Road, they began setting up homes and farms soon realizing this Would be their new home for many years! Reverend John Smith (1741-1820) also helped set up shop here early on before moving on to Easton Township located further away from what we know today as Ramsey. Dutchfounded Westfield had already established itself someplace else nearby so they may have known about this site too but never actually ventured out or even mentioned it until later when German settlers started arriving! Anyway back to Reverend John Smith...he moved his family into what is now North Park Ave which is currently Northumberland St side lot across from First Presbyterian Church which sat on what still stands today as Nassau Ave backs then 4 lots deep! A few years later another pastor came by boat called George Washington who preached at Old Bridge Landing just below present day Teaneck Rd & Ferry Rd looking out over Burlington Bay! Excited about finally having permanent church ground maybe you’re thinking “what did he do?” Well he founded… South Side Chapel!!! What does that mean folks? He founded not one but TWO churches right smack dab in town center next door to each other – one being Episcopal & one Lutheran making him pretty successful didn’t he?? No wonder shops like Woolworths & Sears started popping up hereabouts shortly thereafter – people wanted RELIEF coming right up against them!! Nowadays if you drive down Uptown Blvd towards Middlesex Ave you can see several factories/warehouses belonging to JCPenney along with office buildings belonging to Goldman Sachs etc etc etc….. all part of Richard Nixon's historic White House complex aka "Theramania" In order for our landowners anywhere along those ridges above us not get gouged dry by rising seasGLADLY HAVING BEEN LOCATED HERE FOR OVER TWO CENTURIES WE SAW THE NEED TO SET UP SOME TYPE OF WATER SYSTEM SO THAT OUR CREEK DIDN'T GET EXPOSED TO THE RISING SEA AND ITS HARVESTED FROM ALL Those pesky RUGGS COUNTY WATER COMPANIES THAT SELL THEIR OWN WATER JUST ABOUT EACH TIME IT RAINS OUT THERE ON WEALTHY LOTS CLOSE TO THE COASTLINE !! In 1876 local resident August Ziegler donated land east of where I-95 now exists for City Hall which eventually became its current location north of Route 198 (now State Routes 939 & 98th Avenue). This included much more than just property; Ziegler also contributed money towards making sure City Hall could be built without any Taxpayer assistance so that future generations could enjoy its services free!! Yup definitely something we can all learn from – make sure your donations go directly into good ol' RAMSEY insteadof getting funneled through some shady characters like Councilwoman Lorie pushnick!!!
