Rahway, New Jersey is a city located in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 43,819 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Monmouth County. Rahway became an incorporated town on May 15, 1878 and was named for its location on the Rahway River. On November 4, 1907, it became a city after being granted a charter by the New Jersey Legislature. The first optical instrument sold in Rahway was an eye-level mirror that cost $5 and allowed people to view objects up to 25 feet away from their faces with perfect clarity. In 1916, Dr. Julius Jacobson set up his own optical store in Rahway and began selling microscopes and binoculars as well as telescopes and other instruments for use in astronomy. In 1935, he opened an annex to his store on Broad Street which served as the firstRahway Mall - now called Penn's Landing - until it closed in 1985. In 1951, American Optical Company (AOC) opened a new factory in Rahway that manufactured fiber optics products such as television sets and monitors. AOC also produced photometers (a type of light meter) used to measure light levels inside caves or under water during exploration operations at nearby Minersville Mountain National Recreation Area.

Rahway is a small town in New Jersey, United States. The population was 3,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Rahway-Monmouth Junction, NJ Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town is located on the border of Monmouth and Ocean counties. The first Europeans to visit Rahway were Dutch settlers in 1624 who named it "Rahwaaghe". The name comes from a Delaware word meaning "to run." In 1755, when the British colony of New Jersey was formed, Rahway became part of it and its original name changed to "Rahway Township", but it reverted back to its original name after independence. In 1814, following the War for Independence Against Great Britain, Rahway became known as "New Brunswick" because two U.S. states had split from England that year: New York and Pennsylvania (the latter forming what would become Delaware). The first settler in Rahway was George Hemschtine who arrived around 1799 and built a cabin on land he had Purchase from John Graves Simonsen in 1807. By 1820 there were 12 houses with 5 families living hereabouts including four brothers; Jacob (1798-1868), Solomon (1800-1867), Isaac (1800-1889) and Levi (1802-1892). They raised corn, hay and cattle until 1830 when they started making bricks out of lime obtained from nearby bituminous coal mines which they hauled by wagon to sell at Pemberton's Brickyard where they made finished bricks into fireplaces under Nelligan's factory roofing fame beginning about 1830 until 1865 when brickmaking began in large scale by building ovens across street on Factory site now occupied by Alcoa Company Factory . In 1862 Stevens family moved here from Englewood Cliffs NJ having been driven out of their business formerly carried on at Newton MA by Englishman William Stevens son of Nicholas Stevens who ran property adjoining theirs thenceforth called Stevensville NY however this finally ended about 1880 as Nicholas’ widow reacquired title thereto after her husband’s death leaving her sole interest herein After his death she sold interests to other heirs except some remainders which continue under control subject only to right of redemption or sale provided notice thereof be given six months before such Redemption should take place

Rahway is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 Census, the population was 22,567. The name "Rahway" comes from Dutch and Hebrew roots, meaning "the path ahead." The first known Europeans to visit what is now Rahway were Dutch traders who sailed up the Passaic River in 1624. They may have been looking for a new route to India. A more likely explanation is that they were exploring possible trade routes between New Netherland and Asia. In 1712, when Robert Morris built his mill on the south side of the river, he named it Rahway after one of his farmsteads in Holland. The mill did not begin producing flour until 1764; at that time it became part of George Washington's estate. In 1825, while still living at Morris' Mill, Andrew Johnson purchased some land east of town from James Fenton for $1 million ($ today). He began developing it into what is now called Johnsonown Township and named it after himself – yet another reminder of Rahway's humble beginnings. The first store opened in Johnsonown on July 1st 1825 by George Hennepin & Brothers (now Hennepin’s Warehouse Inc.). By 1830 there were 10 stores open in Johnsonown with a population over 100 people! On November 15th 1860, during the American Civil War (1861-1865), Confederate Major General Jubal Early attacked Union forces near Rahway with 6 companies of infantry and artillery under command of Colonel John Seddon Jr., killing 4 men and capturing 21 others including Mayor John Aiken Bloodworth and several other municipal officials before withdrawing back to Trenton with their equipment intact (!): just like many other municipalities across America which had to endure this type of attack during the war effort! What makes this incident particularly noteworthy is that early 20th century historians generally discounted early accounts which purported that Union forces actually retreated without taking any prisoners or inflicting any damage specifically on civilians – an act considered common among guerrilla tactics used during times like these! It wasn't until 1865 when local historian Julius Vogel finally put together all available evidence which included contemporary reports from both sides as well as contemporaneous diaries written by military personnel involved in the engagement - resulting in him publishing his definitive work on Jubal Early: A Critical Study (1939). Finally we can start to answer some questions about why this battle happened at such an important location within town center – something only recently begun to be studied by historians!
