In 1903, the company merged with Colt Firearms Company to form National Arms Corporation. This merger created a firearms manufacturer with tentacles across America that extended into every state in their empire. However, NAC's fortunes began to decline after World War I when both Arms Manufacturing and National Ammunition businesses were nationalized by US government ownership. By 1925, all of NAC's firearms businesses were combined under one name - Browning Arms Corporation - but its fortunes continued to decline until its bankruptcy in 1938.

Pompton Lakes is part of the Newark-Signal Hill Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is bordered by Bellmawr to the north and east, Paterson to the south and west, and Elizabeth to the northwest. The community was founded in 1854 as a station on the Erie Railroad. It became an incorporated municipality in 1896. The name of the township comes from nearby Mount Hope Station on Route 9W where General George Washington was born on December 12, 1732. The name of his birthplace has also been used for other places within Middlesex County such as Mount Hope Township and Meadowlands Township outside Newark City Hall boundaries. The economy of Pompton Lakes is based upon agriculture which produces fruits and vegetables such as apples, grapes, tomatoes, potatoes and onions; lumber; manufacturing including various types of plastics products; services such as restaurants, taverns and daycare centers; light industry including retail stores, office buildings and a research lab;and tourism with activities such as swimming in Lake Mohawk or visiting local historical sites like Bedminster Village Museum or Pompton Lakes Battlefield National Monument

Pompton Lakes is a small town in Middlesex County, New Jersey. The population was 1,847 at the 2010 census. Pompton Lakes is part of the Newark–Jersey City Metropolitan Area and is considered to be one of the most ethnically diverse communities in New Jersey. The community was first settled by Dutch settlers in 1664, who named it "Pompton". The name derived from the Pokanoket word for "a place where there are many pines." In 1812, John D. Rockefeller bought 640 acres of land at Pompton Lakes for $10 per acre. He built a mill on the stream that flows through the community and named it Rockefeller Mill after his father-in-law, Standard Oil founder John D. Rockefeller Sr. The mill produced flour and other goods until it closed in 1927. In 1868, James Buchanan Ramsey purchased 5 acres of property at Pompton Lakes for $5 per acre from Rockefeller. Ramsey built a farm there and called it Ramsey Farmstead. He sold his farm to Joseph Pulitzer in 1912 for $15 per acre. Pulitzer used part of his proceeds to build what is now Elmhurst Hospital in Pompton Lakes (now known as Ramsey House). After purchasing Elmhurst Hospital, Pulitzer changed its name to Paley Memorial Hospital and later Paley Health Systems (PHS) after he became president of PHSchicago Inc., one of PHS' divisions
Pompton Lakes is a township in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 7,711 at the 2010 census. Pompton Lakes was incorporated as a town on February 14, 1881, but it was abolished on May 30, 1951.
