Washington, Sr., a gunsmith and rifle manufacturer. The first rifles made by the Washington family were muzzleloaders designed for militia use. In 1862, James A. Washington Jr., who had become president of the company, moved production to Fort Monmouth on Long Island and renamed it “Washington Arms Company”. After the American Civil War ended in 1865, guns manufactured by the Washington Arms Company became collector's items and were often offered for sale at auction or through licensed dealers. The company continued producing firearms until 1921 when it merged with another gunmaking firm to form Henry Repeating Arms Company (HRA).
Point Pleasant Township, located in Pike County, New Jersey, is a township that was formed on November 3, 1814. The population of Point Pleasant at the 2010 census was 12,521. It is the larger of the two townships in Pike County by land area and has a total population of 14,561 as of 2015. The first settlement in what is now Point Pleasant Township was made by Loyalist settlers who fled to America during the American Revolution. They named their new community after the town of Plymouth in England which they had seen while serving in that war. The first house built in Point Pleasant Township was built by John Hammond on December 5, 1797. In 1814, when New Jersey became a state, Point Pleasant Township was part of Hunterdon County and its residents were forced to leave their homes because it lay within Manchester's then-new limits as well as those of Princeton and Somerville. However, some residents decided to remain and began to build fences around their properties to keep out Native Americans who were already living there. In 1824, Point Pleasant married Route 9 which ran through both Hunterdon and Middlesex counties; this helped make it somewhat immune from development until after World War II when roads were built throughout the county making it easier for people to move around without fear of being surrounded or Required Purchase Agreements (RPAs). The township office building located at 182 Market Street served as township hall from its inception until 1911 when an addition was made to the structure which housed a courtroom for magistrates issues hearings before Sussex County Superior Court judges beginning in 1912. A fire destroyed most of that building on December 15th 1978; however little damage occurred to adjacent structures due to pre-existingFire Code requirements which dictated that all buildings constructed using wood must be replaced with metal detectors upon fire detection no matter how small such fires may seem at first glance. A new township hall was constructed on State Road 27 east side approximately 1/4 mile north of current headquarters off Old Trenton Road between 2011 and 2016 management announced plans are currently underway for demolition/constructing an attached multifamily dwelling will provide much needed housing development outside main Polesboro unincorporated areas existing zoning allows only single family dwellings not attached multifamily dwellings so project will require special approval prior any construction can begin

Point Pleasant is a small borough in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 2,752 at the 2010 Census. Point Pleasant was formed on April 12, 1857 from part of Atlantic Township. The first settler in Point Pleasant was John Whitehead who arrived in 1795 and built a cabin on the present-day site of the borough. In 1824, Captain Isaac Slocum founded the town of Monmouth on land he purchased from Samuel Blackburne. Slocum named it after his home point (Pleasant Harbour) on Long Island Sound. In 1854, Point Pleasant became part of Asbury Park Township; however, it reverted to its original status as a borough when Asbury Park Township was disbanded on May 15, 1961. On October 26, 1984, during Hurricane Floyd', Point Pleasant residents evacuated their homes and went into hiding as National Guard troops were called in to help with evacuations elsewhere in Monmouth County. Those living in Borough Hall were ordered to return by November 3 because of damage done to public infrastructure by Floyd'. Borough President James Pugh announced that all municipal offices would be closed for two weeks while the reconstruction process took place and that no new taxes would be levied until everything was back up and running again - an unprecedented decision at this time. On November 10th finally all government services resumed following approval by referendum from the Borough Council which also occurred during these two week closure periods. A schoolhouse located near where Battalion Street meets Old Hwy 9 opened for instruction September 1st 1892; it served as Borough High School until 1962 when It merged into Plainfield HS which now operates as Plainfield Middle School & Jr./Sr High School across from Plank Road post office). A fire destroyed both buildings October 25th 1889 but due to quick response from volunteer firefighters both schoolhouses reopened 6 days later with new classrooms addition side by side attached rear bell tower building giving name "Bloomingdale" before being demolished January 16th 1906 (rebuilt 1902-1906) becoming what is now known as "Pleasant Valley". During World War II many homes were built throughout Point Pleasant including: Post Office Building #1 (1941), Navy Yard Storage Building #2 (1945), American Legion Post No.#2701(1945), Veterans Administration Hospital Annexes Nos.#7 & 8 (1946). Today there are remnants of some WWII era structures scattered through much of Borough Center like: roof line remnant above street level along Main Street between Ridge Avenue and Norfolk Avenue; brick wall around BP gas station near intersection of Ridge Avenue & Norfolk Avenue; brick wall along US 61 near intersection with Ridge Avenue
In 1764, Point Pleasant was first settled by English colonists. The townspeople were primarily Scotch-Irish and German immigrants who came to the area in search of land. In 1834, the town became a U.S. township. In 1902, it was renamed for General George Washington after he died in office.
