Point Pleasant is a town located in Union County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 8,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark- Hillside, NJ Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Point Pleasant was Nicholas Bond who arrived on October 12, 1777 from England. He and his family were the first white people to live in what is now Point Pleasant Township when it was incorporated as a township on February 14th, 1814. In 1828, Isaac Decker moved from Elizabethtown (now West Elizabeth Township) to Point Pleasant and built a log cabin which he named Decker's Cabin. One year later he donated land for a Presbyterian church which became First Presbyterian Church ofPoint Pleasant Township. A post office called "New Hope" was established in 1827 by Nicholas Bond and operated until 1840; then it was renamed "Point Pleasant." The first settlers also founded a schoolDistrict which was disbanded after only one year due to financial difficulties. The current school district operates under the name "Union Free School District". In 1860, John Fenton erected an gristmill on Mill Creek where present-day Route 9 intersects Route 22 - becoming one of the earliest commercial enterprises in what is now Point Pleasant Township. After years of stagnation due to several factors such as low demand for flour and higher prices for imported cereals, Fenton reopened his mill in 1902 with increased production that has continue into the 21st century. The community flourished during World War I with many factories being set up within its borders including munitions plants making artillery ammunition and planes; electric generating plants making lights; steel mills making tools; shipyards building submarines and other warships - all helping support Allied war efforts throughout Europe despite difficult economic times back home. Many homes were also destroyed or damaged during WWI but eventually rebuilt following abundant availability of materials thanks to wartime production quotas set by the government. After World War II things slowly began to change again with rising unemployment rates among working class Americans combined with increasing competition from abroad resulting in decreased manufacturing activity across America while point needle families continued to cling onto their old ways of life albeit with some minor adjustments like moving closer to friends or relatives instead of away from them entirely as had been done before because Of limited space or no affordable housing available outside of major cities during this time period- leading some families even further inland towards points farther inland where they could find more opportunities for subsistence farming instead of living paycheck-to-paycheck like their predecessors had done before migrating outwards looking for new opportunities while others decided they’d rather stay put – gradually but surelyPointpleasant transitioned over time from agricultural “rustic frontier” village into an urban center today characterized by high concentrations of high rise buildings associated with professional services firms such as law enforcement agencies etc., traditional small business proprietorships have largely disappeared although there remains much rural character associated with many residences especially along routes running through town center whence most locals commute either directly or via local highways into larger metropolitan areas nearby

Point Pleasant is a town in Sussex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 1,895 at the 2010 census. The first European to explore and settle the area was Nicholas-Jacques de Montresor, who in 1688 built a small cabin on the site of today's Point Pleasant Township. In 1764, General George Washington and his army landed at nearby Sandy Hook on their way from Mount Vernon to take part in the Battle of Princeton. A few miles north of Point Pleasant, they camped for several days before continuing their march. The location would come into use by both sides during the Revolutionary War as a stop on their journey westward. In 1814, President James K. Polk selected Point Pleasant as one of three sites for the capital of Florida; it was here that Polk met Miami Indians leader Chief Osceola and signed treaties relinquishing any right Florida had to Cuba. After becoming president in 1845, Franklin D. Roosevelt visited Key West and then traveled along US 1 to Jacksonville before returning home via Key Largo – making landfall at Point Pleasant just south of where modern day Everglades National Park now stands – setting off what has been called "the most popular tourist destination in America." The presence of large hotels throughout much of the 20th century causedPoint Pleasant's narrow streets to be filled with traffic coming into town for shopping or other purposes; however this has started to change over time as more people have moved out into desirable suburban neighborhoods closer to restaurants and shops which can provide transportation directly into town without having to drive through all those quiet streets full of houses that used to line them up at every intersection back when everyone lived there single-handedly shareing an entire block with no living room or kitchenette available (yes really).
