It is part of the Camden-Atlantic Junction, NJ Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Pleasantville were Dutch and English colonists who arrived during the 17th century. The area that now comprises Pleasantville was first settled by Germans in the early 1800s. In 1827, Pleasantville was incorporated as a village and remained so until 1955. Pleasantville's ZIP code is 07652. As of the 2010 Census, its population had increased to 2,064 residents (an increase of 15%). At its peak in 2000, there were 3,500 people living in Pleasantville; however, this number decreased to 2,048 persons by 2010 due to migration and natural attrition. One of the most prominent businesses located in Pleasantville is Amoco gas stations which has been located here since 1922 when it merged with Standard Oil Company of New Jerseybranded "Standard" station on Main Street. Although Amoco shuttered its operations in 2009 following an acquisition by ExxonMobil parent company Mobil Corporation - one of America's largest oil refineries - local residents continue to visit their pumps for fuel and other needs despite this closure.. In recent years several restaurants have opened up around Amoco including: Six Flags Over Pennsylvania (opened 2001), Pizzeria Bianco (2006), White Sands BBQ & Pizza (2007), Burger King (2005) and Dunkin' Donuts (2002). In addition to these local businesses there are a few grocery stores such as Safeway Supermarkets chain open since 1984 along with Dunkin' Donuts corporate headquarters which used to be home to Wawa convenience store before they relocated out west near Atlantic City International Airport also known as Terminal 5 or IATA: PHLYZ or PHILZ airport according as it appeared on air traffic control manifests from Newark Liberty International Airport beginning on May 15th 1958 thru March 6th 1992 Amenities currently include an Aeromexico flight school whose main campus(s) are situated just east of Route 9 south off US-1 outside Elizabethtown Township while another training academy operated by Air Traffic Control Services operates out of Terminal 4 adjacent runway 22L/28R serving both Newark Liberty International Airport(TI)and Elizabethtown Townshipoff I-287 next exit off I-87

Pleasantville is a borough in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark–Jersey City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The early history of Pleasantville can be traced back to 1798 when George Washington and his family settled there as farmers. In 1814, the first school was opened in Pleasantville by Reverend Jameson and Mrs. Humphrey Rogers. A post office was established in 1824, and by 1830 the town had a population of about 100 people. In 1881, John Fenton bought land adjacent to present-day Pleasantville for $5 per acre (approximately $ ). He named his new community "Pleasantville" after himself and his wife's home village in Ireland. By 1886, two churches – one Congregational and one Methodist – were open within the town limits. A store was built on Main Street in 1888 and soon became known as "The Gables". There were also severalsmaller businesses until around 1910 when large plants such as Koppers Candy Company started up among other businesses that would remain throughout the years including a grocery store (1912), bakery (1915), library (1929), doctor's office (1935) & more recently an insurance company (2005). The small businesses continued through World War II with many serving area servicemen or their families during times of war shortages due to rationing; however most closed down during peacetime because of changes in economy which impacted manufacturing industries hardest such as meatpacking/packaging etc.; however some like bookstore Barnes & Noble have been extant for over 40 years! Postwar redevelopment brought new life to many buildings including a fitness center which still stands today(1997).
