D’Arcy also donated many of his inventory items to various organizations such as Boys & Girls Clubs, hospitals, and libraries. In addition, he always welcomed new customers with Open Arms handshakes. After John D’Arcy passed away in 1935, his son Harry took over the business and continued to grow it into what it is today- The Gun Store of America Ltd.. Harry D’Arcy passed away in 1984 but left behind an entire family legacy which continues on today- His daughters Elena (who runs the shop) and Laura (who oversees operations).

They never again came into contact with Europeans. In 1812, Anthony Morris built a sawmill on Route 11 east ofpresent-day Pleasantville. From this mill productions also began to be shipped to Philadelphia via boatloads of men and goods over the Hackensack River until 1828 when road construction replaced water transportation as the primary means for shipping goods between New York City and Philadelphia."During World War I," writes historian Thomas J. McCarthy III "the town exploded" with residents creating munitions plants and other factories along with local farmers producing foodgrain for military needs such as gasoline rationing during trench warfare." By 1945 Newark had outgrown Pleasantville so much that Morris decided to sell his mills to James Fenton for $1 million dollars." With its new owner came more than 50ivenants including housing developments such as Manor Gardens which remain extant today", according to Jane O'Neill Hughes who wrote about Pleasantville for her book "A History Of Hunterdon County, NJ" In 1951 Plainfield Township was formed from portions of Hunterdon Township west of Route 202 including most of what is now Pleasantville while East Brunswick Township wasformed from parts of Plainfield Township east ofRoute 202 which included most of what are now Pleasantvillersouth side". However annexation requests by both townships continued until 1957 when they were finally rejected due to lack of voter support."Despite these setbacks," read one report documenting municipal expansionism during this era ""Pleasantvillersouth Side attracted young professionals fleeing manufacturing jobs in Trenton or Jersey City"" while"Northumberland Avenue blossomed into an trendy shopping center home to stores like Macy's and Sears.""According to current demographics published by the borough office... PLEASANTVILLE has regained some vitality over recent years though still falls well below statistical averages within its borders.""

Pleasantville has been home to many different businesses over its history including an insurance company, car dealership, health spa/medical center, manufacturing plant, grocery store and tire shop. In recent years there have been several renovations made to various properties within the town including new sidewalks and streetlights as well as a new library which opened in 2013.
