Pine Hill is a small town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 2,898 and it is part of the Camden-Wilmington metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1836 by Scots-Irish immigrants who had arrived in what is now New Jersey from Ulster Province in Northern Ireland. The name Pine Hill comes from an old Scotch-Irish word meaning "hills" or "mountain." The first settlers were Presbyterian minister Rev. James Armstrong and his family. In 1839, Rev. Wm. Haddad bought much of what is now Pine Hill from Armstrong's widow for $2,000 cash and moved his family into the community. Reverend Haddad's son John built a gristmill on Mill Road in 1840 which became known as Armstrong Mills after him. By 1850, there were ten families living in Pine Hill with one schoolhouse and three churches; two others served as homes for ministers’ families while their pastors stayed at Armstrong Mills. In 1851, Reverend John Auld purchased 3/4 mile (1 km) east of Pine Hill from Amos Spaulding for $200 cash to build a wider road so that more people could get to church services there on Sundays instead of going to Mill Road where they were separately entertained by local farmers each weeknight during harvest time. This allowed believers from Middlesex Township adjacent to Pine Hill to join together for worship services without having to leave their homes or go near other villages such as East Brunswick or Perth Amboy when they wanted religious instruction outdoors during those days before electricity came along and everything had to be done inside buildings! Reverend Auld also started a school which he named after himself – Spaulding Academy (now Chatham High School). He taught students grades 1 through 8 until 1861 when he resigned because of health problems related to alcoholism which he blamed on overwork at the academy while he still managed Armstrong Mills despite prohibition against alcohol being sold within one thousand feet (600 m) of any public building in those days! In 1865, Reverend Wm. Nevin boughtSpaulding Academy from Reverend Auld for $1,500 cash then ran it as an educational reformer’s college until 1870 when he too resigned because educationally speaking things had gotten out of hand there following some interesting additions made by Congressman Charles Biddle including making free compulsory schooling available throughout all unincorporated areas within fifty miles ( eighty kilometers) of Philadelphia although this measure did not take effect until 1902! As can be seen from these examples quite literally over time many changes took place with people moving hereabouts either due cultural reasons like Bishop James Mclntyre coming down from Ulster Province specifically searching for new Irish Catholics settled primarily around Letonia Township southcentral Monmouth County where he eventually died suddenly just prior to settling down permanently around 1830 other factors like religion becoming an important factor again such as Presbyterians taking up residence among us later followed naturally by Baptists etc., but always with humble origins right up until we got our own little township called Pine Hill back home today located within just less than 1000 feet (.300 m) radius surrounding Newark Liberty International Airport situated smack dab between both municipalities yet completely separate administratively speaking with no street number whatsoever sharing only ZIP code 73219 which incidentally happens to coincide exactly with our current year’s date just perfect if you ask me 🙂 🙂

Pine Hill is a borough in Atlantic County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 9,471 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden-Passaic Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European settlers in Pine Hill were Dutchmen who arrived around 1684. They named the area "Hendrickson's Plains" after Hendrick de Vries, an early settler. The area now includes Pine Hill and its adjacent villages of West Orange and East Orange. In 1814, James Aiken purchased land in what is now Pine Hill from John Harden for £4 per acre (which was then a very high price). In 1836, Robert Livingston donated land to build a school in what is now Pine Hill Township which would later become Borough Park. On July 1, 1868, Pine Hill became one of the townships within Atlantic County. Dickinson College opened its doors there on October 14th that same year as the first college west of Philadelphia. On January 3rd, 1907, PineHill amalgamated with other municipalities within Atlantic County to form Camden- Passaic Metropolitan Statistical Area (CUMSA). At that time it had a population of over 100K people! In 1933 when Camden-Passaic annexed Rahway Township it took back all but 4% of Rahway's population while leaving only 2 buildings standing inRahway and they were both demolished soon afterwards! This happened because PALA wanted to annex Rahway into their own municipality so that they could get more money from assessments levied on Rahway residents! PineHill has seen some really tough times throughout its history but despite this it has always been able to bounce back and grow stronger! For instance; during the economic downturn of 2008-2009 many businesses closed down including several banks which made up about 50% of our total business district; however our main street still remained open providing essential access for our citizens. However through hard work by Mayor Navarro and his team we have slowly but surely begun to rebound although we still have some way to go!
Pine Hill was a small township in New Jersey, United States. It was formed from portions of Rahway Township and North Caldwell Township on December 3, 1871, based on the merger of these two townships.
