In 1820, Nicholas-Jacques Conte, a French immigrant and farmer in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, started making binoculars. He was the first to import binoculars into the United States. The use of binoculars began to grow in popularity among farmers and other rural people in America during the 1800s because they allowed them to view distant objects more clearly than with just a single eye. In 1892, American inventor Alfred Vail designed and produced the world’s first practical electronic Binocular (Eagle). This instrument allowed people to watch television programs without having to leave their homes. The use of binoculars continued to grow throughout the 20th century as technology improved. During World War II, many Americans used binoculars for target practice on military ranges. Many others also took advantage of binoculars for birdwatching and observing natural phenomena such as flares from oil refineries or fireworks displays from across the country. By 1970, approximately 50% of Americans owned some form ofbinocular equipment!

Phillipsburg is a small town located in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,614 at the 2010 census. Phillipsburg is part of the Paterson–Bergen– Passaic metropolitan area. The first settler in Phillipsburg was Nicholas Seneca, who arrived in 1683. He named his community after his friend and patron saint, Phillip of Alexandria. The original church on the original site was destroyed by fire in 1834 and replaced with a new one which still stands today. In 1865, Phillipsburg became an incorporated municipality and changed its name to Philipsburg Township. The township experienced significant growth during the early 1900s when natural gas was discovered near Phillipsburg and other municipalities around it. This led to development of businesses and homes along Route 11 while also creating opportunities for farming and manufacturing.During World War II, Philipsburg played an important role as a military base providing goods and services to General George Patton's Third Army during their campaign through Hunterdon County. Today, Philipsburgh remains a vibrant community with many cultural attractions including an annual music festival called "Patton's Birthday Celebration", arts festivals throughout the year including "Into The Woods" (a puppet show), golf tournaments, summer camps for children as well as numerous restaurants and stores catering to the local populace Today, Phillipsburgh continues to be home to many people from all over New Jersey who enjoy its culture and easy access to all that it has to offer

Phillipsburg is a town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 9,376 at the 2010 census. Phillipsburg is the county seat of Hunterdon County. It was incorporated as a village on February 14, 1834, from parts of Bedminster and South Orange Township. The first post office in Phillipsburg opened on July 1, 1835. On July 11, 1860, Phillipsburgh annexation became part of Hunterdon County after the passage of an act by the New Jersey General Assembly; and on April 24, 1868 it became a borough. On January 1, 1997 Borough status was restored to Phillipsburg following a referendum vote by its residents. The town's name comes from Philipse Island which is located in front of town and served as an early landing place for shipwrecked Europeans seeking to reach America via what is now known as Long Beach Boulevard. The island has been called various names since then including Philipsburgh (1698), Piscataway (1718), Philipsborough (1800), Paulsborough (1831), and Robbinsville (1906). The first settler in what would become Phillipsburg were James Fenton and his wife Sarah who arrived from England in 1799 along with their two children John and Mary Ann Fenton. As time passed more settlers followed suit until by 1830 there were over 100 citizens living in the township alone. Farming had not yet reached such heights that large plantations could be established but extensive land holdings did exist including one comprising nearly all of what later became Phillipstown Township west of downtown where Richard Morris built one of the largest homes around-the-clock during its heyday between 1840-1900 costing upwards of $2 million dollars today according to historical research done by David Munk at Rutgers University’s Center for American History & Culture working with local historian Druey Hodge who curated Morris’ home at 5200 Park Avenue back when it still stood). It wasn't until after the turn of the 21st century that things started to change with several large businesses moving into downtown Phillipsburgamely Air Canada/Lufthansa Flight Centre before eventually becoming defunct or closing down due to economic decline usually paralleling other municipalities experiencing significant growth throughout this period like Monmouth Junction which experienced similar issues prior to being taken over by Brick Township - another former township that also experienced dramatic growth rates during this time thanks largely to new development happening right next door along I-95) making Phillipsburgh once again a small town albeit one much closer to larger metropolitan areas than it once was however things are slowly starting to improve with some big projectskatnamely redeveloping Main Street which will bring much needed retail jobs back intoPhillipsburgh while also expanding eastward onto Post Road keeping Philipsburgh anchored near its core business district giving rise hope for further redevelopment within short order although no announcements have been made publically about any major plans or future developments currently underway or tentatively scheduled for implementation within either municipality so stay tuned!
