This is because Perth Amboy has a rich history of being one of the most optically-rich cities in the United States. In fact, it is home to the only optical store in America that specializes exclusively in optic products! The first Optical Shop was established in Perth Amboy by Julius Wiesenthal and Harry Weisbrodt on July 1, 1892. They sold lens and prism cases and spectacles at their store. The shop was located near the old post office building on Market Street. The original owners were able to sell their products because they had a large enough audience to support them. The second Optical Shop opened its doors on October 15, 1912 and was run by Gertrude Kappeler and Herold Heinemann. It was located at 5th and College Streets. Kappeler ran the shop until her death in 1944; she was then succeeded by Heinemann until his death in 1968. The business continued under new ownership until 1986 when it closed its doors for good due to financial difficulties. The third Optical Shop opened its doors on December 13, 1990 and was run by Irving Rubinfeldt Jr., his son Irving Rubinfeldt III, and their daughter Tina Rubinfeldt-Kramer. It was located at 255 Main Street across from the Jersey City branch of Macy’s department stores (which later became Sears). The shop offered a wide variety of optical products including telescopes, binoculars, microscopes, riflescopes/ astronomical optics etcetera! At its height the store offered over 2,500 items! After years of decline – due largely to competition from digital photography – the fourth Optical Shop opened its doors on September 6th, 2006 with headquarters located at 9 Livingston Avenue in East Brunswick Township near John Fenton High School (formerly known as Maybrook High School). This new location allowed for expanded product lines as well as an increased staff size which helped revive sales at the store during 2009-2010 season; however these profits were not sustainable over time so Ladenberg disposed of all but three units within two years’ time due to economic conditions throughout much of 2007-2008 period….. [1] It should be noted that whileOptical shops have been present throughout Perth Amboy's history there have been several changes/ modifications made to them over time: starting with Julius Wiesenthal's original establishment back in 1892 which specialized mostly in lenses & prisms before moving onto Harry Weisbrodt who operated both stores concurrently until his death certificates were cancelled Which left Weisbrodt's son Julius behind with Business Ventures Incorporated which he ran from 1893 -1971 ending up selling off assets including most everything else too]. All four shops eventually closed down circa 2006 leaving only one operational still standing today after being bought out by Ladenberg Camera

The store was located on Main Street and sold glasses, spectacles, binoculars, telescopes and other optical equipment. In 1916, the company moved to a new location on Dearborn Avenue and continued to sell equipment including eyeglasses, sunglasses and contact lenses. In 1935, the company became a subsidiary of American Optical Corporation and continued to operate under that name until it merged with Raytheon in 1984.
Perth Amboy, New Jersey is a small town in Middlesex County, New Jersey on the Rutgers University campus. It was founded as Perth Amboy by Dutch colonists in 1677. The name comes from Perth am Firth, Scotland, and means "the mouth of the firth." The population of Perth Amboy was 9,824 at the 2010 census. The area now comprising Perth Amboy was first settled by English colonists in 1679. They called it Brentford because of a bend in the river that ran through it. In 1764, John Woolridge purchased land east of present-day Perth Amboy from Abenaki Indians for £2 million. He named his new community after himself and added an initial "y" to indicate its place within British North America. From this time until 1814, when it became part of Middlesex County, there were no townships within what is now Middlesex County but only villages or hamlets. On November 15, 1814, during the course of Indian War III (1812-1815), Battle of Trenton took place between American forces loyal to General George Washington and Native Americans under Major Pierre Charles L’Enfant; as a result of this battle many people died and most buildings in Trenton were destroyed including the recently built courthouse which still stands today (see Trenton Timeline). This event led to the name change from 'Preston' to 'Trenton'. The James River Bridge over the Raritan River was completed in 1911 and replaced an earlier bridge that had been destroyed by floods two years previously. The original bridge was also built with lumber taken from old mill sites throughout eastern New Jersey which made up much of what is left standing todayof this era- some remaining mills are located just outside city limits in West Newark/Teaneck while others are located further north along Interstate 95 near Harrisonburg Virginia Beach

Perth Amboy is a borough in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 Census, the borough had a population of 24,711. Perth Amboy was formed from parts of North Brunswick and South Brunswick Township on October 25, 1836, as a result of an act of the New Jersey Legislature. The name comes from Perth am Boy Ferry which crossed the Raritan River in town. The first settler to arrive in Perth Amboy was John Purdy who arrived on November 10, 1795. He and his family built a log cabin on what is now Main Street. They were soon followed by other settlers who began to arrive in greater numbers over the next several years. By 1800 there were 11 families living in Perth Amboy. On March 21st, 1836, members of the New Jersey General Assembly passed an act creating Perth Amboy Borough with boundaries that would follow that day's intersection of Main Street (north), Maple Avenue (south), and Union Street (east). The new township included all land east of Maple Avenue including much later portions of South Brunswick Township which were annexed by Perth Amboy on January 1st, 1937. The first mayor was George Jethro Bacon who served from 1837-1841; he was succeeded by Salmon Pappas who held office until 1862 when he became county commissioner at large for Middlesex County and served until 1870 when he became sheriff general for Middlesex County effective November 1st. At this time Sheriff General also served as Mayor pro Tem for three years before becoming elected Mayor effective December 6th 1872 after defeating Jethro Bacon Jr.. Perth Amboy was founded in 1756 as a small town on the Jersey Shore. It rapidly grew, and by 1800 it had become one of the most populous towns in New Jersey. The population peaked at over 50,000 in 1810 and gradually declined as waves of immigration and development destroyed many of the old villages. Perth Amboy slowly regained its recognition as a center of commerce and culture during the 19th century, until it was eclipsed by Paramus in 1907. However, since then Perth Amboy has made some strides back into prominence, becoming an increasingly vibrant community with strong cultural ties to both New York City and Philadelphia.
