Kenedy quickly appointed James Buchanan as his Deputy Mayor for Patterson so that Patterson could play an important role in developing new westernpatterson into one of America’s most influential cities during its early days as a national capital city under George Washington and James K Polk (1846-1849). In 1827 Borough President Jno Hennessey petitioned for incorporation into Passaic County because of concerns about extensive rural development east of the Hackensack River without corresponding growth opportunities within its borders which were being created by nearby municipalities such as Newark and Elizabethtown – both founded by British immigrants – while not having any connection with Patterson whatsoever other than their location adjacent to it on Route 1/9W designation between Livingston Township on the east bank of the river and East Brunswick Township on the west bank across from Rutgers University (now State College), home to many large American Tobacco Company factories at various points along its length up until they closed down during World War II). On July 10, 1828, following hearings held before a committee led by Sheriff Solomon Guggenheim (future mayor) including testimony from local farmers and citizens about potential problems posed by uncontrolled agricultural land development adjacent to Patterson without township input or involvement (the “Patterson Purchase”), Borough President Jno Hennessey submitted a request for incorporation which became law two days later upon signature by Governor Andrew Johnson with full approval from City Council president Solomon Guggenheim who delivered Chatham County’s first charter reading thereof at 4:00 PM September 3rd before an audience estimated at 400 people assembled inside Masonic Hall [later renamed Bankers Trust Center] prior to adjournment due largely to strong winds blowing over buildings resulting in power outages lasting several hours]. Thereafter passed through committees comprising residents representing all precincts with unanimous recommendation for incorporation into Passaic County…With this action becoming effective January 1st 1830 [Fulton & Schuette], just three years after our arrival hereabouts & less than two years after patterson had been platted as we know it today – pattersons leading pioneer community transformed rapidly into thriving urban center typified by high quality public schools & numerous businesses serving locals & visitors alike

On February 28th 1916 this Borough merged with Rahway Township to form Rahway Township 2nd Municipal District which then merged into Hunterdon County on March 3rd 1912 becoming patterson borough/county seat with 4 wards (4 townships).
