Paterson, New Jersey is home to the world’s third largest gun show, the Paterson Gun Show. The event was founded in 1892 by entrepreneur and politician George Washington Carver. Thegunshow has since become an annual fixture on the NJ calendar, drawing more than 350,000 attendees over eight days in January and February. These brands are still being produced today by various manufacturers under various brand names. The Paterson Gun Show is also home to some of North America’s most famous rifle shows such as SHOT Show Americas(the worlds oldest Outdoor Shooting Festival)and IDPA World Championships; both held at Palisades Gunshop & Gear Outfitters located adjacent to The Gun Show Grounds on State Street in Paterson from April 6th through April 10th each year!

It is part of the New York City Metropolitan Area. The first Europeans to visit Paterson were Giovanni da Verrazzano and his crew on March 20, 1524. They gave the name "Verrazano" to a small island near the mouth of the Hackensack River. In 1664, Francis Smith built a plantation in what is now Northumberland Township and named it Williamsburg after King James II of England's sister-in-law Elizabeth Cary (1624-1691). In 1701, John Montresor bought land from Nicholas Morrell for $1,000 and began to build an estate that became known as Montresor Manor. He also developed what is now South Paterson into an agricultural community with seven miles (11 km) of road leading to his farmhouse and thirty acres (12 ha) of open ground for farming. In 1735, George Washington purchased 2/3rds interest in Montresor Manor from John Montresor for $10,- sterling which he used to finance his military campaigns against Great Britain during the American Revolution. The early history of Paterson can be traced back to 1809 when German immigrant Martin Kapp founded Kapp & Company salt manufactory on Main Street in what was then Village No. 6 in Township No 5 south of Newark airport which later became calledpaterson square". On November 10th 1809 by Order Of Governor Andrew Johnson Kapp was registered with US Patent #827136 while located at 209 Main Street where today we find our current building - 201 Elmwood Avenue between Patterson Square and English Turnpike I-95 interchange - home since 1814 To all who know us... Paterson is a small town located in the New Jersey Highlands, just east of Monmouth County. It was founded by English colonists in 1686 and became an incorporated village in 1871. The population of Paterson was 21,814 at the 2010 census. Paterson has a rich history dating back to its founding as a British colony. On November 3, 1686, the first group of English settlers arrived in what is now Paterson from London following the Pilgrims' landing on December 5th. The original Nathaniel Weare family operated a millinery shop and home until 1753 when they sold their land to local farmer Peter Cartwright for $5 per acre. Notwithstanding its humble beginnings, Paterson quickly developed into an important center of trade and commerce within New Jersey during the early 1800s. In 1801, John Stevens founded Stevens & Company which manufactured cannons for American wars abroad. In 1825, Abraham Lincoln made his first visit to this area when he took part in a tour of Monmouth County with then-Senator James Buchanan. In 1846, Abraham Lincoln was fatally wounded while campaigning in Iowa; however, his legacy lives on through his namesake town - Lincolnwood - located just outside of Paterson proper. During World War II (1939-1945),patterson played host to over 1 million servicemen who worked at various factories and plants located throughout the townshippoestretch from Morris Heights down to Belle Vernon Township near Trenton township line. In 1951, Paterson became one of only two townships within Monmouth County that did not become part of either New York or Pennsylvania after becoming autonomous under state law pursuant to Section 2(a) of the Union Statehood Act (1877).
