Passaic, New Jersey is a small town in Hudson County, New York, United States. The population was 9,521 at the 2010 census. The name of the town derives from Passaic Creek (now called Hackensack River), which runs through it. The first settlers in what is now Passaic were Dutch and they erected a log cabin on the banks of the creek in 1681. A ferry crossed the creek to pass between Newark and Elizabethtown until 1817 when a bridge was built over it. In 1839, The Town of Passaic was formed from portions of Elizabethtown and Newark Township. It had a population of 1,100 people. In 1847, land around Passaic Creek became part of Bergen County while that township remained separate from Passaic until 1861 when it became part of Union County. Thereafter, the townships within Bergen County merged with one another formingPassaic Township on April 1st,. 1912 having reached its present size with 8 miles (13 km) border on both sides due to annexation by Rahway and Northvale Boroughs; this made for an even more compact community than before as well as reducing commuting times for residents who lived in other municipalities within Bergen County but still had to travel intoPassaic for their jobs or shopping needs

The new design allowed the gun to be rotated so that it could point in any direction, and allowed it to be aimed at targets as far away as 100 yards with little difficulty.
Passaic is a borough in Passaic County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 Census, the population was 26,948. The name "Passaic" comes from the Paterson-owned land grant at what is now known as Broad and Washington Streets. The first Europeans to arrive in Passaic were Dutch settlers who arrived in 1664. They built a small church on what is now Washington Street. The next year, they founded a town on the site of their original town and named it after Nicholas van der Sarck (1627-1690), an Englishman who had settled near Paterson in 1662. In 1701, the proprietors of this new town granted 12 acres (4 hectares) to Jacob Roeper for his support and defense during the American Revolution. In 1834, Passaic became part of Bergen County when that county was formed from parts of Essex and Hudson counties. The first school in Passaic was built on Bushwick Road south of present day Roosevelt Boulevard in 1835 by Rev. John Fenton Dodge and Dr. George Witherspoon Dormer; it was attended by students from both Bergen County townships until 1838 when it moved to its current location on Hudson Avenue between Clinton Street and Henry Ford Avenue. In 1868, James Atherton purchased 1/2 mile (0.8 km) of West Side Railroad track east of Broad Street from theNJ&W Railroad Company for $1 million dollars which he used to build what is now James Atherton High School; at that time, it also served as home to various other businesses including Atherton's Brewery and grocery store which occupy present day First Presbyterian Church building on Clinton Street across from Atherton High School today). On July 3rd 1870, Under Act No., Pertaining To Electing Officers And Members Of Township Board Of Guardians For The Year Ending June 30th 1870 - passaacborough - an act for appointing sundry electors - passed without opposition being offered any one party or individual...the result thereof being ascertained by an elector casting his ballot at said office aforesaid...A letter From Honorable Augustus Biddle Esq., Secretary To Province Of New Jersey dated January 25th 1870 announcing that he has received information that some persons are endeavoring to obstruct the election thereby causing inconvenience & confusion etc., caused much excitement throughout our township but no damage having been done thereto - immediately convened a meeting pursuant to law held at said office aforesaid where all interested parties were summoned & participated therein
Passaic was once a small village in Passaic County, New Jersey. The population of the village was 1,752 at the time of its incorporation in 1838. By 1860, the population of Passaic had grown to 3,912 and by 1920 it had increased to 11,814. In 1954, when Passaic became a borough, it lost its separate status and joined the surrounding municipalities in what is now Union City.
