The Palisades Park is a protected area located in the city of New York City. It was designated in 1924 as part of the West Side White Settlement, and has since been home to a number of famous neighborhoods, including The Upper West Side, Midtown Manhattan and Chelsea. The park covers an area of 8 square miles (20 km2), making it one of the largest in New York City. The Palisades Park watershed includes parts of both the Bronx and Staten Island. This area now includes Midtown Manhattan on its southern border while Chelsea lines up along its eastern edge continuing north until it meets again at 73rd Avenue near Yankee Stadium. In 1924 when this Area was designated as part of The White Settlement – which included much older black communities like Harlem – there were no public parks or playgrounds available for people living near what is now Midtown Manhattan or Chelsea so residents had to use their own land or go into other populated areas such as Central Park or Prospect Heights for Recreation purposes In 1930 when The Bronx Annex was annexed by New York City; The #1A lot adjacent to Ramblewood Cemetery became part of PALISADES PARK . As property values increased on East Harlem between 116th & 117th Streets; Developers requested that extra lots be added adjoining PALISADES PARK . These Developer’s Lots became known as: THE UPPER WEST SIDE WHITE SETTLEMENT . When these Developer’s Lots were developed over time they yielded large tracts Of Forest Preserve land within today’s PALISADES PARK boundaries Today many people think that PALISADES PARK began with just 1/8 mile (.3km) wide path called Sunrise Path which ran between Van Cortlandt Road [now Lenox Ave] & Sunrise Path Pond beginning at 63rd St & running easterly past modern day CROWN HEIGHTS before terminating at Race Point Rd

The development around Palisades Park went through several phases over its history: initial lawn mowing and gardening by residents; construction of private homes in various styles including Georgian Revival, Italianate, Second Empire, Romanesque Revival, Shingle roofs with dormers; addition of small ponds and fountains; and finally updates such as electric lights in 1915 and streetcars running through the park in 1925/. Today's population is made up mostly of families with children or elderly parents who live within walking distance of various playgrounds (including one specifically designed for toddlers), grocery stores (including two large parkside supermarkets), pharmacies (including a large number of Rite Aid medications), massages/spas/yoga studios/cuisine options (including several Chinese restaurants), banks (two branches on Staten Island), clothing stores (including both Sears and JCPenney) as well as more modest businesses providing goods like home appliances or pet supplies
The Palisades Park, New Jersey area was first settled in the 17th century. The Palisades is a series of high cliffs that separate the upper and lower reaches of the Passaic River. The cliffs were formed when two meltwater streams converged on the pass and created a valley. In 1764, General George Washington surveyed and named this area "Palisades" after these cliffs. In 1813, the United States government purchased much of what is now New Jersey from Great Britain for $10 million. This purchase included most of present-day Manhattan as well as parts of Lower Manhattan and Staten Island. The U.S. Government decided to Build a Wall to keep out immigrants, who were thought to be dangerous because they lacked property qualifications for citizenship. This led to the nickname "The Wire". In 1847, Congress passed an act called "An Act to Establish a National Cemetery in Princeton", which allowed American soldiers buried in British military cemeteries on Staten Island to be reinterred at Princeton University's new cemetery (now called Columbia Cemetery). This event is also known as "Protesting Whitey". In 1892, President Grover Cleveland ordered all federal lands within three miles of Princeton University be donated to this university for use as a national park. Today, Princeton University remains one of only two universities in America that has land belonging to both it and the federal government split evenly between them—the other being Harvard University (which has mostly private land).
