This was also the year that PALIESTINE GUN & SHOOTING CLUB was founded in nearby Allentown. It wasn't until 1945 that PALIESTINE GUN & SHOOTING CLUB moved into it's current location on Hwy 9 south of the park. After World War II ended there was an increase in gun ownership by civilians and law enforcement agencies due to new legislation affecting firearms which took effect following the war.< ref="/laws/2015"/>New Jersey state police started using these regulations as part of their traffic stop policy.
