The Palisades Park is a municipal park in New Jersey, United States.It was established in 1892 and occupies an area of 3 square miles (8 km2). The park is located on the east side of the Hudson River, between Midtown Manhattan and Westchester County. The Palisades Park originally formed as part of the village of Palisades Landing on the southern shore of Hudson Bay. The landing consisted of a series of low hills that ran northeast to southwest for about two miles (3 km). On July 16, 1892, a group of men from Fishkill Village purchased 1/4 mile (0.6 km) northeast of where the current-day parking lot and bathrooms are located, including alluvial soil that had been deposited over time by the river's action. They named their new property "Palisades Park". The land now includes most or all of what is now Midtown Manhattan. In 1901, Edison Brothers Electric Company constructed a substation on what is now First Avenue at Third Street in Midtown Manhattan for its electric business customers in what was then known as Edison's Quarry. This substation became one of New York City's first large-scale electrical generation facilities. At this time there were no public transportation options available within walking distance so people traveling to work took boats downriver to George Washington Bridge which connected Lower Manhattan with Upper Manhattan via PATH trains. In 1907, Postoffice Department officials decided to move from their original location at 125 Second Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn because they found it difficult to keep up with population growth and wanted more space for their office staff in close proximity to busy streets rather than having them spread across several buildings along Fourth Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson made Staten Island his personal domain and designated it as part Of New York City; however, Staten Island remained part OF New York State until 1898 when it became an independent municipality under the name Richmond County. As such, while Palisades Park technically lies within Westchester County - which included elements extending into South Nyack - much law enforcement activity takes place within Eastchester County due to its larger population size relative to Westchester Counties generally speaking - particularly around Long Island Sound where many residents live and work offshore during high tide periods when access ashore would be extremely LIMITED or BLOCKED off by high waves! In 1984 Mayor Ed Koch proposed annexing portions of Eastchester County southward towards Rockville Centre into Brooklyn - but this proposal was ultimately abandoned due to growing local opposition from residents living on both sides of Route 9A between those townships and Rockville Centre! Annexation did occur however - albeit indirectly through the construction next door (to Interstate 5)of two major shopping malls: One called Monmouth Mall which opened in 1985 adjacent Toonex Airport offering general store services as well as airfare tickets; also adjacent was called Giants Stadium which opened in 1990 serving mostly as a commercial venue hosting events such as NFL football games etc... both developments actually increased traffic onto I-95 directly adjoining Monmouth Mall while maintaining access onto Route 9A through Gowanus Canal! In 2013 developer Bruce Ratner submitted plans for another massive mall expansion project just eastbound off I-95 known officially as Atlantic Yards Project & although only 10% complete & still subjectto numerous delays(including reversals & extensions galore!) his mall has already generated significant controversy among locals who allege developers have ignored key zoning regulations Toothpaste ads campaign slogans emblazoned above new development near subway lines suggest © All rights reserved 2014
