The Palisades Park Armory was a United States armory located in Palisades Park, New Jersey. The armory was built in 1909 and closed in 1961. It is now used as the home of the Regimental Museum of New Jersey, which opened in 1982. The armory was originally known as the "Majestic Arms" and served as the headquarters for the 12th Infantry Regiment until its move to Fort Lee in 1942. From then on it served as Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 15th Regiment (Huguenot), 2nd Brigade Combat Team 3rd Infantry Division (Light Infantry) and later 3rd Infantry Division's Headquarters Company before being sold to the Township of Palisades Park in 1961. In 1941-1942, during World War II, the armory became a major training ground for New York Army National Guard troops who were called up for service on account of supplies running low at home. Armament testing took place there from 1941-1942 including tests on how to shoot tanks with machine guns and rifles using dummy rounds. These experiments helped win acceptance by both American military brass and infantrymen for using armor rather than just relying on firepower alone when engaging targets; this eventually led to mass production of such weapons throughout America during World War II.
