In 1846, arms manufacturer Samuel Colt produced what is now considered the first firearm shirt when he created the "Frisbee Shirt" which featured an image of a frisbee being shot from a gun barrel. In 1865, while working at Wm Henson & Sons Inc.,Samuel Colt developed the " Pistol Shirts" which were made to commemorate America's victory in the Civil War. These shirts depicted handguns such as rifles or shotguns with patriotic slogans such as "Give Thanks For Our Arms!" or "Your Friendly Neighborhood Gunsmith." In 1898, Winchester Manufacturing Company debuted their very own line of firearms t-shirts when they produced "Winchester Model X Rifle Shirt." This design featured an image of a Winchester Model X rifle within its open breech front loading magazine that could be fired using only your hand! Throughout these years, various companies have released their own lines of gunfire shirts; some that remain popular today include NRA (National Rifle Association), Blue Man Group (a group formed in 1964), Kansas State Capitol (now part of Kansas University), and more recently Gadsden Flag Armory (a manufacturer based out of Jacksonville Beach,Florida). In the early 1800s, Ocean City was a thriving and growing town in New Jersey. It became known for its seafood and whaling businesses, as well as its beautiful beachfront location on the Eastern Seaboard. However, by the middle of the 19th century, Ocean City's fortunes had changed dramatically. The town was struggling economically due to a combination of factors - including an increased number of immigrants and their children coming to work in local factories, combined with a lack of available land to develop. In 1857, Ocean City voters passed a resolution urging the state government to take over responsibility for providing basic public services such as education and health care in the town. This led to what is now known as "The Great Locust Migration" - an influx of people from all over New Jersey looking for new opportunities. By 1861, however, things were starting to improve for Ocean City. A new commercial district had been developed along Route 9 (now called Atlantic Avenue), which helped jumpstart the town's economy once again. Additionally, some improvements were made to nearby schools - such as adding playgrounds and tennis courts – which finally gave residents some hope that their community would become sustainable and prospering again. Unfortunately, this wasn't always the case; during many periods during the late 19th century, Ocean City struggled financially even while experiencing rapid growth. Despite these challenges though, those who lived in or visited Ocean City always remembered it for its beautiful beaches and delicious seafood!
