The museum would be known as “The Gunsmiths’ Museum of New Jersey” and would be open to the public from April 1, 1958 through December 31, 1959. On November 4, 1860, he won election as US President with 49% of the vote against John F Kennedy's 48%. During his term (1861-1865), he signed into law both the Homestead Act (February 1862) and Social Security Act (November 26th). As American president during one of its most difficult times (the Civil War), Lincoln also enacted landmark measures such as the Pacific Railroad Act (May 1863), which connected California with Oregon through Nevada; Reconstruction Amendments guarantee voting rights for African Americans in states that had seceded from America; Emancipation Proclamation on December 1st 1865 means all slaves within Confederate lines are free regardless of whether they own property or not; Immigration Act of 1965 gives amnesty to nearly two million undocumented immigrants living in America It has been said that "No other city ever went so fast through so many changes –from its rural isolation to its Leadville days". A wagon train carrying barrels of oil arrived at Oakland on November 12 and restocked with more oil after reaching Hackensack that evening On December 3rd General Custer's brigade crossed over the Rahway River into New Jersey for their winter encampment about five miles north of present day North Brunswick From this location they conducted operations against General Ulysses S Grant during his march from Trenton to Philadelphia on January 17-1868 . In all but one engagement (the Battle of Gettysburg) General Custer led his brigade direct from his encampment without subordination to any other unit or command
