Oakland, New Jersey is a borough in Atlantic County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 Census, the borough had a total population of 23,715. In Oakland, New Jersey, on November 5, 1868, the first gun store in the county was opened by J.D. McNally and W.H. Dickinson with a total of 12 pistols and six shotguns. On February 17, 1889, the first blacksmith shop in the area was established by Isaac "Bilbo" Carlin with two forge hammers and one saw mill worth $1,500 at 301 Main Street in Oakland.

Over time,New Jersey has become one of the most important states in America because of its economy – it is home to major banks such as JPMorgan Chase & Co., Wells Fargo & Co., Bankers Trust Company, Macy's Inc., Apple Inc., Comcast Corporation (NBCUniversal), General Electric Company (GE), Lockheed Martin Corporation (LMT), Twitter Inc., Salesforce Corp., Genentech Incorporated (GN) – among others – as well as large numbers of high-tech companies such as Google LLC (GOOGL) and Facebook INC.(FB). And like much else about New Jersey culture, its history reflects this wealth: many key figures have hailed from or spent time here including Assemblyman John Wisniewski (D-Middlesex County), Governor Chris Christie (R-NJD) and Mayor Cory Booker (D- Newark).
