Dick was a tailor who had a shop inside his home. Jane ran the shop outside of the home until she died in 1998. Dick continued to run the store until his death in 2009. He was 78 years old at the time of his death. The Blind Gunsmith is one of only a few gun stores known to still offer firearms training opportunities to its customers today. This program is called “Gunsmithing 101: The Basic Course” and it costs $25 per person or $100 for a three-day course plus materials (the cost includes all necessary safety equipment). He named his new port "Newark" after King James I of England's infant daughter Princess Anne (later Queen Victoria). In 1776, during America's War for Independence against Great Britain, General George Washington's army halted at Camden on its march through NJ en route back downriver to Princeton University when they discovered British troops encamped nearby at Perth Amboy with orders not to move until further notice due to fears that they would cross over into Canada should hostilities break out between Britain and France. Agered by this display of cowardice by British forces under General Howe, Washington ordered all American troops immediately march southward across New Jersey without any stops or reinforcements - something which has been called one of military history’s greatest accomplishments. Aftermaths included pillaging and burning throughout much of what is now Camden County; $200 million worth ($ today) in damages were done during that entire winter! The site where Washington’s army stopped is still marked by a large boulder inside an open field just off Interstate 95 near exit 20A in Gloucester Township - evidence that this event led directly to stronger defenses being put up along US Route 1st Street corridor following independence! In commemoration thereof we honour General George Washington each year on July 4th with ceremonies officiated by HONORARY CLERK OF THE COUNCIL OF NEW JERSEY STATE

In 1872, Mayor John Gutteridge enacted a law that designated Chinatown as the first concentration point for Chinese immigrants in North America. According to local legend, Gutteridge believed that this would help Toomer's Alley become a center of commerce and culture instead of just a place where criminals couldisderelict with impunity
The first Europeans to visit what is now Oakland, New Jersey were the Dutch in 1624. The area was acquired by the British in 1764 as part of the Treaty of Passaic. The town of Oakland was founded on a small island in Lake Monmouth, about two miles from present-day Newark and three miles from Princeton. In 1852, it became a city under the provisions of the National City Constitution.
