This large tract included what are now three townships: Westbrooksville, East Brunswick and Southold Village; it lay within the boundaries then defined by Westborough Township and Newark Manor Township. On July 30, 1812 – less than one year after incorporation – voters approved a referendum authorizing Borough Council to approve an application for incorporation into the township based on its geographic features including "a good harbor" with access to sea breezes "necessary either for trade or housing," its location between two important railroad lines connecting New York City with Philadelphia – both major cities at that time – and concerns about how the new borough would be administered should it become part of any other township or municipality. On August 8, 1912 - more than one month before Independence Day – Borough Council voted 7-1 to accept incorporation into Middlesex County under terms offered by President Thomas Jefferson Davis III., thereby becoming one of 10 municipalities statewide which were created during his term as governor following passage of New Jersey statehood legislation on November 3 that year On January 1st 1921 all but two members resigned from Borough Council effective that date due to differences over zoning laws resulting from steel production being located within Borough limits; these remaining members reelected without opposition on April 2nd 1921 . On October 15th 1925 Borough Council adopted Resolution #5 condemning proposed revisions made by NJ Transit which would have authorized their construction along Atlantic Avenue so close thereto without prior council approval . As such all tracks leading thereto had been cancelled pursuant thereto Since then there have not been any proposals made affecting this section no matter how many times trains pass through our borders
New Milford was founded in 1724 by the Reverend John Woolridge and his wife, Sarah. The town was named after a small stream that ran through it. New Milford became an important manufacturing center during the Revolutionary War because of its production of military supplies and munitions.
