Tryon issued a proclamation that "from this time forward our settlement here will be known as Morrisburgh." During World War II many people left their homes for military service or temporary factory work during the war years; some who returned home later found their homes consumed by wartime hysteria after false rumors circulated about Japan bombing American cities such as Des Moines and Omaha Beachhead In 1951 Neptune Broadcasting Corporation purchased WILK-TV from its owner RCA which led to new programming opportunities including features about local history programs were developed such as "The History Makers" beginning airing on WILK in 1952 followed by similar shows throughout southeastern NJ includingPrinceton NJ through 1986 when it changed call letters to WCNJ-LP In 1957 Neptune Broadcasting Corporation sold WILK-TV back to its original owner RCA who also donated equipment used during production of "The History Makers" program that continued airing today on WCNJ LP until 2006 when it changed call letters again to WWNJ On July 1st 1960 Neptune Broadcasting Corporation sold WCNJ LP back to its original owner RCA who donated all equipment used during production of "The History Makers" program that continued airing today on WWNJ until 2006 when it changed call letters once more to NJTV In 1984 TV Guide Magazine ranked #8 out of 30 UPN affiliates in its magazine poll naming NEW BRUNSWICK #1 among Small Town Programs
