In 1764, British General James Wolfe landed his army at Queen's Necklace about 4 miles downstream from where New Brunswick sits today and began besieging Philadelphia after capturing Burgoyne's forces at Saratoga Race Course near Princeton on October 14th that year. Queen's Necklace was renamed Fort George after King George II gave it to Britain as a gift during their colonial period as part of Lord Howe's attempt to curry favor with him while he besieged Philadelphia during that conflict. The fort housed a garrison made up primarily of militiamen under commandof Major General Nicholas Guyot de la Fayette until it surrendered on September 24th, 1777 following an eight-week siege by British forces under General William Howe which had seen extensive damage done both inside and outside the fortifications since its surrender date two weeks earlier On February 3rd, 1802 when United States Constitution was ratified following ratification by states including New Jersey some residents offered prayers for its approval outdoors on Mount Joy Cemetery grounds overlooking Trenton where President James Kappell officiated A number of industries have been headquartered or have major operations within this small town over time including: paper manufacturing; shipbuilding; electric power generation; pharmaceuticals; textiles; transportation services; food processing; cloud computing/internet service provision
