From its inception until 1840,Morris College operated as a day school here; this institution closed during World War II because of enemy bombing raids that destroyed much property here including most of the college's buildings and grounds. Afterward, Morristown became home to several small businesses such as Jaffray's grocery store run by Ebenezer Jaffray before becoming automated throughout most of its operations by supermarket chains beginning in the 1970s but remaining operational through 2003 or 2004 under the name "Ebenezer Jaffray's", later "Target". On November 12th 2005 however all operations were discontinued due to financial difficulty following Hurricane Sandy which impacted many communities within Morris County including Morristown directly including those within Target's parent company Aris Group plc., leaving many local residents without access to basic necessities such as food or water for days subsequent aftermaths . Today there are only few souvenir shops still open abouta couple hundred feet east along Route 22 just past Exit 6A off I-495 exit 13B) called "The Olde Store" which features period style architecture typical for this era with large 4 poster beds (the original ones), characteristic chestnut floors and other historic features remaining today
