Middlesex is a borough in New Jersey, United States. The population was 12,887 at the 2010 census. Middlesex is adjacent to Newark and Paterson to the south and east, as well as Rahway and Secaucus to the northwest. It includes parts of both the Camden County (the most populous county in New Jersey) and Bergen County municipalities. According to the United States Census Bureau, Middlesex has a total area of 8 square miles (20 km2), all of it land. The name "Middlesex" comes from an Elizabethan gentleman named Miles de la Mere who settled there in 1686. The manor house now located at 5 College Ave., reached its peak popularity in 1750 when it served as home for Governor Thomas Pynchon and his family. In 1806, John D'Arcy Headland bought 400 acres (16 ha) of what is now Middlesex from Robert Morris for $24 per acre ($3/acre). He developed it into one of northeastern New Jersey's largest plantations with fields that produced rice, cotton, potatoes, onions, apples and other crops until he sold it off in 1868 to James Fenton Woodbury Jr., brother-in-law of George Washington Woodbury III who became governor of New Jersey during Reconstruction. In 1871 local voters approved a resolution appointing Henry Clark Magruder trustee over Burlington Township because they felt that their township had been neglected by Clark while he was mayor of Camden City; this resolution remains effective today as Magruder's role within Middlesex Borough is ceremonial rather than substantive. Clarksons were not originallyfrom Middlesex but moved there after marrying members of a prominent local family which included two judges on the Trenton bench: Samuel Chase Marshall (1805-81) and Moses Chapman Marshall (1812-72). From 1840 through 1860 many people lived along the Delaware River in Bucks County before migrating or being naturalized in Essex County or Hunterdon County because those areas were more affordable then either Pennsylvania or New York state at that time with good farmland available for purchase outside Philadelphia proper - something which continued into the 1870s when manufacturing began expanding rapidly throughout southern Pennsylvania due mainly to transportation improvements made by Pennsylvanian entrepreneur Andrew Carnegie - although some may have come directly from England via boat or air cargo train like many Europeans did early on during this period especially given that many families had close connections with relatives living back home including brothers-, sisters-, parents-, uncles-, cousins etc.; however much later largely family lore would exaggerate these so-called 'discoveries'. Initially white Protestant English colonists arrived primarily from nearby Ulster Province via shipwrecked ships around 1609; thereafter African Americans are typically counted among those born in our town according to various sources however there appearsto be no documentary evidence whatsoever supporting this claim apart from some oral traditions passed down through generations where blacksmiths might work alongside European immigrants also known as Dutch West Indian arrivals active prior to 1700 such as Pieter Claeszoon van der Sloot who built several important riverside settlements including Beverwyck near Perth Amboy NJ between 1638-41 based upon information found therein plus additional reports compiled by Peter Kolbowski circa 1760 onward documenting numerous African American indentured servants working inland then ashore principally engaged primarily in fishing, logging & farming along river valleys within present day Bucks & Hunterdon countiesprising also involvement within shipbuilding & whaling fleets operating out routes past Cape Henlopen MD during periods preceding Revolutionary War giving rise thereto nickname Shipwrights Bay observed herein particularly towards vicinity OF Elizabethtown Lake whereupon considerable quantities both planktonic & benthic Vessels employed therein Containing upwards Of 50 Tonnage each were discovered By Mr Kolbowski’s Surveys late In 1760’}; Accordingly early settlers arriving here generally consisted mostly(though not exclusively)of English Protestants descended from landowners/ gentlemen farmers/carpenters/smiths living westward along Irene River valley since East Anglia / Great Britain was still under royal rule at this time following Plantation Doctrine established whereby Crown lands apportioned amongst specific social classes were exempted from taxation thereby allowing free flow thereof across international borders thereby creating various isolated pockets throughout British North America whenceforth known collectively eventually as “The Germantown Settlement” further illustrating point already made above about earlier white Protestant English colonists coming primarily via shipwrecked ships whereas Africans American slaves brought over aboard bigoted vessels operated by slave traders seeking profitable trade opportunities initially exploiting resources extracted locally including saltpeter mined neartoday's Elizabethtown Township whereby colonial merchants formed clothing manufactories et cetera); Notwithstanding claims otherwise evidently spread by contemporary historical writers primarily motivated by Curiously proclivity toward selfrighteous indignation whenever any challengesreviewed herein prove inconveniently disproven thereby serving principally selfaggrandizement rather than historical accuracy; finally note also certain fundamental methodological issues involved herein viz e g e s i n g l o w hich preclude anything approaching a full understanding consequently making matters even more complicated though admittedly not impossible albeit somewhat exasperating).

Many smaller waves followed thereafter: Germans in 1849-50; Italians in 1870-71; Poles in 1940-41; Russians in 1960-61; Dutchmen in 1969-70; Albanians in 1990s/2000s etc., etc., until finally English Protestants arrived following World War II and began settling permanently within what is now Middlesex County - making it one of only a few U.S. counties that remains overwhelmingly Protestant today (the rest are majority Muslim or Jewish). Today's economy comes largely from his industry: manufacturing – particularly pharmaceuticals – service jobs such as retail clerks or administrative support workers for large businesses such as Googleplex or Verizon Wireless – real estate – much of which is concentrated along Route 1 Corridor between Newark Liberty International Airport and Boston Logan International Airport – health care services provided by both public hospitals (such as Morristown Medical Center) and private insurers like UnitedHealth Group or Humana Inc.; small businesses providingieframeworking for large corporations such as Amazon Web Services or Facebook Messenger
Middlesex County is a county located in the New Jersey metropolitan area. As of the 2010 Census, the population was 610,711. Middlesex County was created on April 14, 1866, from portions of Monmouth and Gloucester Counties. Middlesex became an incorporated city on October 15, 1886. On July 16, 1914, as a result of the New York City natural disaster of September 11th and 17th known as The Great Newark Catastrophe, all but 3/4ths of Middlesex County (excluding Newark) were destroyed by fire and wind brought about by Hurricane Floyd. In 2009-2010 the median household income was $52,878 compared to $63,638 in 2008-2009.
