Binoculars have been around for centuries, and their history in Manville can be traced back to 1792 when two Dutch farmers, Cornelius de Vries and Hendrick Smith, started selling binoculars from a small shop on the corner of High Street and Market Place. Over time, binocular sales grew as people began to use them during hunting expeditions, surveying land for crops or checking oil pipelines. Eventually,binoculars became so popular that they were offered for sale by retailers throughout New Jersey. In 1875, one such retailer was opened by John Fenton at Seventh and Market streets in Manville. By 1888,Fenton had moved his business to what is now the Quaker City Shopping Center on Market Street in Manville. At this point,binocular sales had become so widespread that many stores across the state sold them. In 1903,Manville voters passed a resolution urging theNJ Board of Education to create a school board specifically dedicated to education within the town limits. This led to the establishment of the Manville School District in 1904 which first used binoculars as part of its instruction. By 1912,the district had purchased an entire building onHigh Street in Manville which served as its schoolhouse until it was destroyed by fire in 1938. Throughout these years,binocular sales continued to grow as people enjoyed using them for travel information or gazing at natural beauty from afar. Today Binoculations still remains an important part of many people’s lives both here in New Jersey and internationally; making it one of those items that everyone should own at some point!

Manville is a town in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,853 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark–Jersey City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European settlers were Dutch colonists who established a trading post on the Hackensack River in 1764. The name Manville was chosen because of its location near where many military grants had been made to Loyalists following the American Revolution. In 1814, an area including present-day Manville and West Milford Township was included in what is now Union County; it became part of Morris County following creation of that county. In 1828, what are today Saylorsburg Township and Easton Township were added to Morris County; they became part of Manville when it was annexed into the township on April 10, 1892. Manville was incorporated as a town on March 25, 1899 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature from portions of Union and Middlesex counties. The original population of 790 formed a nucleus around which development occurred over time with growth increasing until it reached its current size by 1910. rapid growth during World War II led to increased demand for housing and businesses in the community which has resulted in some loss of historic buildings but also significant addition toManvillians historical legacy including two high school football stadiums (the first ever built in America), three churches (one Roman Catholic and two Protestant denominations), four elementary schools (grades K-5), one senior high school (grades 12-18) and five libraries/library districts serving both town residents and surrounding municipalities totaling more than 2,500 square feet inside or outside library doors since 1997!

Manville is a borough in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 Census, the population was 8,865. The name "Manville" is derived from the Dutch word man (man) + veiligheid (security). In 1699, a group of men and women from nearby Doylestown began to build a small community on land they had purchased from the Lenape tribe. They named their new town after Maurice Manville, an Englishman who had been governor of New Netherland at the time. The first settler in Manville was Abraham Halsey. The borough was formed on March 1, 1872, as a result of an act of Congress which authorized the formation of municipalities within Hunterdon County based upon population changes during the previous year. Borough residents were given voting rights by legislation passed two years earlier. On October 15, 1896, Mayor George Witherspoon resigned effective November 1 due to ill health and was replaced by James J. Cooksey; Cooksey served until his death on December 12th 1954. In 1969-1970 Manville experienced one of its most important milestones when it became home to Hunterdon Community College Preparatory School which merged with then Monmouth County Technical High School to form Hunterdon Community Technical Institute which now has campuses in Hackensack and Passaic City NJ On July 3rd 2005 through an ordinance approved by voters local officials declared July 4th as “July 4th National Independence Day” in order to commemorate all that has gone into making this day what it is today including our many proudHunterdon County natives like myself that have made this day possible!
Manville was founded by Nicholas Manville in 1764. The town grew rapidly during the early 1800s, and by 1814 it had a population of over 100 people. In 1825, Manville became the seat of Monmouth County and remained so for the next hundred years. In 1866, Monmouth County merged with Middlesex County to form New Jersey, and Manville fell within that new county. However, because it was part of Monmouth County when it formed, Manville retained some vestiges of its Dutch-American culture until the late 20th century.
