Gun targets have been a part of Madison, New Jersey for over 100 years. The first target shooting club was formed in 1887, and the sport continued to grow in popularity until the early 20th century. During that time, gun targets were used primarily as an amusement device for children and adults alike. Some of the earliest gun target shooters in Madison were those who would help keep the local paper mill running. They would use their knowledge of geometry to design models that could be shot at various distances using traditional shotguns or pistols. By World War I, there had been enough growth in target shooting that a new club had been established - The American Legion. This organization was responsible for organizing target shoots throughout the state of New Jersey. One of the most famous shootouts took place at this location on July 1st, 1916 where over 50 individuals participated from different parts of New Jersey. That day is still remembered by many as one of NJ's favorite shooting events! The old town hall located on Market Street served as both a training ground and venue for these Shooters Club meetings back when it was still owned by the American Legion detachment stationed inMadison. In America, this meant more effective regulation of firearms by state governments. In Newark, Nj., one of the most prohibitionist cities, gun control measures included a ban on importation of alcohol into town from states that had prohibited it. As a result of this policy, crime rates decreased in Newark as compared to other urban areas during this time period. 1935: -After years of research and development by NRA officials, the National Firearms Act was passed which regulated firearms much more tightly than before. This law led to an increase in violence across America as criminals became hesitant to use unregistered firearms for crime purposes
Madison, New Jersey is a town in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 9,871 at the 2000 census. The name "Madison" comes from the Shawnee word mahaska which means "place of milk". The first European to visit Madison was Dutchman Hendrick Corstiaen in 1609. Madison is one of only two towns in North America that were founded by Europeans as part of the original English colony in North America (the other being Jamestown). The first settlers to Madison were Huguenots who arrived in 1714. They built a small cabin on what is now Route 22 and named it after their hometown of Montpellier, France. In 1725, they erected a larger cabin on what is now Route 10 near today's intersection of those two routes. The community grew rapidly during the early 1800s when railroads came through Morris County and goods could be transported quickly and easily from Philadelphia or Newark to residents' homes. In 1812, James Averill purchased 640 acres (2 km²) along with some buildings and land south of present-day Route 10 from Nicholas Cogan for $10 per acre ($ million Today). He donated this land for Fort Monmouth Park which became home to the city's first public school and summer home between 1815 and 1830. In 1824, John Pemberton bought 4 square miles (10 km²) west of present-day Madison from Nicholas Cogan for $5 per acre ($ million Today). This area became known as Pemberton Township because John Pemberton had acquired it several years earlier while exploring nearby Middlesex County with his brother David Dunbar Pemberton Sr.. Development began on what would become Madison shortly thereafter with construction beginning on a courthouse in 1829 and an academy/schoolroom later that year. In 1830–31, James Vail purchased 2 square miles (4 km²), east ofpresent-dayMadisonfromJohnPembertonfor$1 per acre($ million Today). This area became known as Vail Township because James Vail had acquired it several years earlier while exploring nearby Hunterdon County with his brother Michael Vail Sr.. Expansion continued rapidly throughout these early years with new builds being added continually until eventually all township territory lay within the boundaries granted to them by George Washington in 1785 including much of modern day Morris County! After remaining dormant for over 50 years due to lack of development or interest – until recently – Morristown Township formally reorganized itself into municipalities on December 14th 2009 under the leadership of Borough President Anthony Caruso Jr., effectively creating a new municipality called “Madison” consisting almost entirely inside Morristown Borough limits! Today Madison has nearly 11000 residents making it one Of The most populous Towns In NJ With A Demographic % Over 20% ! MiddlesexCounty remains our largest county by both population & Land Use !!

As different types of firearms became available, new target rifles were designed and made available for sale to the public. From 1825-1865, pistol targets were also created and sold to the public. Pistol targets consisted of two or more small plates that could be hit by a projectile from a gun. They were popular among shooters because they were easy to shoot and offered many opportunities for training. In 1865, rifle targets began being replaced by handguns as the primary means of shooting at stationary objects such as guns or horses. Target pistols continued to be manufactured until 1912 when all handgun target production ceased

Madison, New Jersey is a town in Sussex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 2,746 at the 2010 census. The name of the town comes from James Madison, the first President of the United States and one of its founders. Madison was founded in 1788 by British colonists as a small settlement on the east border of present-day Sussex County. It grew quickly due to its location and natural resources: it became an important center for trade with neighboring Pennsylvania and Delaware. In 1803, when Princeton University was founded nearby, Madison became an important educational center; during its early years, many Princeton professors lived in Madison. In 1834, when New Brunswick became part of America and merged with New York City, Madison declined to join this merger; instead, it retained its own government under a special act of the New Jersey Legislature known as the "Madison Act". This act gave it limited self-government but allowed for local industries and commerce to grow unchecked. The community experienced rapid growth during Reconstruction following World War II; by 1950 it had reached over 30 thousand residents. However, economic decline began in the late 1960s and continues to this day; today Madison has only 8 hundred residents over all including those living in downtown who are used mostly for services such as education and public health purposes
Madison was founded in 1758 by Captain John Stevens and settlers from New York. The town was named after James Madison, the second president of the United States. The first white settler in Madison was William Bradford, who arrived in 1760. In 1814, when Congress created the state of New Jersey, Madison was included as part of that state.
