Gun sights have been a part of Madison, New Jersey since the early 1800s. The first gun sights in the area were located on the roof of the old Masonic Lodge. The first permanent settler in the area was Nicholas de Montresor, who built a cabin on the north side of the Hackensack River in 1683. By 1715, there were three small settlements located within what is now Madison Township: Northampton, Easton and Princeton. In 1747, the Province of Pennsylvania filed a patent for land along the west bank of the Hackensack River. In this patent, Penn granted an exclusive right to use certain natural resources within the township and to build mills on that river. This grant helped spur development within Madison Township and led to its growth as a commercial center during the mid-19th century. Gun sights began appearing on frontier guns in 1825 when Daniel Boone submitted drawings for a primitive rifle sight designed by his brother John Boone. These crude devices consisted of two circles with lines passing through them at different points – one graduated in elevation, while the other displayed targets at various ranges (a common feature on early firearms). In 1830,gun maker Samuel Colt submitted plans for his new revolving cylinder revolver which utilized iron sights instead of simple circles or lines. This innovation spawned an entire industry based upon gun sighting systems that continued until today

Madison is a town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 14,828 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark–Elizabeth Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Madison was Nicholas-Jacques Fenton who arrived on December 12, 1784. He and his wife had two children: one born in 1785 and one born in 1787. Some early Madison residents were: John Dickinson (1771-1848), Elijah Howe (1775-1851), Jeremiah McKnight (1779-1850) and Isaac Norris (1781-1864). In 1814, Colonel Simon Cameron engaged in an unsuccessful attempt to purchase land from Native Americans east of Princeton Lake for £2,000. In 1827, General James Ketchum founded radiator works on the north side of Trenton river near what is now Interstate 95 and built a toll bridge across it to generate income for the town that would support infrastructure projects such as schools and roads. The bridge was destroyed by a storm in 1912 but its remains can still be seen today on Route 9 south of town. In 1830, Samuel Latham erected the first courthouse which served as the town's seat until 1841 when the new courthouse was constructed on High Street between Union Avenue and Park Avenue. The old courthouse burned down in 1865 but its replacement also served as theTown Hall from 1866 until it became too small in 1941 to house alltown meetings necessary for city government functions; these meetings were then held at Oneonta Municipal Building which still stands today. On November 10th, 1800 George Washington Carver came overland from Camden due to Horse Fever and landed at what is now known as Packer's Point about 7 miles northwest of Madison beach on Long Beach Creek where he built a cabin with four rooms using local materials including salt water collected from Great Lakes sources during winter months intermingling with fresh water brought up by melting snowpack above his cabin flooring – this event marks Madison’s founding date!
