Gun locks were used to secure firearms and ammunition in cabinets, chests, and other places where they would not be accessible to unauthorized individuals. Many of these guns lock with a padlock or keypad combination. The development of the firearm itself also led to the development of gun locks. A key-operated lock was invented in 1795 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte[1]. This Lock allowed for easy access to firearms stored inside a cabinet or chest without having to remember multiple combinations. In 1834, George Stephenson patented an improved type of key-operated lock which he called the Stephenson Lock[2]. This Lock allowed handguns and other small arms to be locked up securely inside a case or trunk. It was this invention which helped make gun locks more popular than ever before. Gunlocks became increasingly important during the Second World War because it was then that many people began owning firearms for their own use rather than keep them at home for safekeeping. Gunlocks were also needed during wartime when many stores did not have enough keys available to open them safely. Many gunlocks are still in use today and can be found at many different locations across Long Branch, New Jersey. Some of these old gunslock keys are even still being used today!

Long Branch is a borough in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 22,651 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark–Trenton metropolitan area. The first settler in what is now Long Branch was Nicholas deMoss (1504-1586), who arrived in 1608 from England with his family and built a house on the site of present day Livingston Street and Third Avenue. DeMoss' grandson Andrew deMoss (1692-1772) purchased land east of present day Borough Hall on Second Street and built two gristmills there which became known as "DeMoss's Mill". In 1727, John Jameson bought some acres west of DeMoss' mill from him for $5 per acre. Jameson started to plant corn here and it soon became a major industry in Long Branch. In 1814, while still living at De Moss' mill, George Washington visited Long Branch and inspected the town's fortifications. The next year he donated a tract of land to be used as a military post for the township development that would include Fort Lee later renamed Saratoga Army National Guard Base; this donation catalyzed further growth for Long Branch. In 1832, Samuel Morse donated land south of First Avenue between Clinton Boulevard and Newark Liberty International Airport to be used as an airport field; this donation helped spur further airport development in Long Branch during the 1920s through 1930s when aviation reached its peak in popularity around the world due to increased wartime demand by America's allies such as Nazi Germany and Japan.— today long branch Airport has become one of eastern New Jerseys largest employers with an annual payroll exceeding $100 million.— also during these years much infrastructure development took place including new schools (1924 – Present), county courthouse (1920 – Present), community center/library (1924 – Present) along with many other businesses and residential developments.— In 1935 President Franklin D Roosevelt created Census Tract 8302 which includes much of current Borough Park— newly annexed byLong Branch from Rahway Township.— following World War II saw rapid growth in housing values throughout eastern New Jersey—- finally reaching its apex during the late 1970s when suburban sprawl began taking hold across much northernmost NJ

Long Branch is a borough in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 Census, the population was 7,189. The borough was formed on July 1, 1814 from portions of Rahway and Maple Shade. It was named for General John Forbes Long (1755-1824), who had been killed in action at Saratoga Mountain in 1777. The first settler to arrive in what is now Long Branch was Jobn Boggs in 1811. He built a cabin on the site of present-day Glenview Park. The first store opened on Main Street in 1827. In 1830, Isaac Goodrich established the first post office here with two clerks and three mail carriers serviceing five towns within Monmouth County: Rahway, Hackensack, Mount Laurel, Neptune Beach and South Brunswick. In 1843 Samuel Haines bought 200 acres (8 km2) of land east of town from George Meek for $1 per acre ($/km²). He founded what is today known as Haines Township and started to build churches and other buildings here. By 1850 there were over 100 residents living here including six churches and four schools; also several farms were developed here including Pemberton Farm which still stands today and became part of Manalapan Township after that township was created from parts of Rahway Township on February 9th, 1850. On December 14th 1861 Long Branch received word that Abraham Lincoln had been elected President of the United States; this day would eventually become known as "Election Day". Many people from Long Branch voted absentee because they lived elsewhere in Monmouth County or because they were military personnel stationed nearby at Fort Totten or Elizabethport Naval Station during the war years. After Lincoln's inauguration ceremony at Ford's Theatre later that evening many people gathered around Union Hall where he read his inaugural address before dinner starting an applause that lasted until morning when it stopped due to lack of wind! Although many people believed he could have easily won re-election by running against Salmon Pasha (the Turkish Minister responsible for Ottoman Empire policies towards Jews) insteadof him - no evidence exists to support this claim - Long Branchians did manage to celebrate their new President's election victory loudly and publicly throughout the night long into next day! Heinrich Marxsen arrived early one morning early Thanksgiving Day 1863 with his family so he could vote insideUnion Hall! For some inexplicable reason everyone else decided not to show up even though they knew they had right to do so since Mr Marxsen resided right off Main Street! ThisOliver Willis fellow residentfrom Edison NJ managedto get away with voting 3 times!! Needlessto sayhe lost all those votes!:) A fire destroyed most of downtown Kingston on November 16th 1889; this event marks the only time fires damage entire communities in Monmouth County during that era although some buildings such as Pleasantville Library burned down multiple times between 1919-1925 due to faulty wiring caused byandals by local kids playing truant from school... Various small fires continued happening intermittently throughout prohibition era but finally went out around 1935 thanks largely to new code enforcement regulations put into effect by then Governor James McGreevy
