In 1881, James J. McNulty bought some land adjoining which became known as "McNulty's Neck". He developed this into a peninsula that extended all along both banks of the river and formed what is now Little Ferry Township when he donated it to the township in 1902. At its height, Little Ferry had a population of 478 residents including 131 children living with their parents or other relatives until they were sent off to boarding schools during World War II when many families lost their homes in bombings raids across PA." "It wasn't until after World War II thatLittle Ferry began developing into an urban center due largely to Interstate 95 which bypassed the town making it easier for cars to move around."
