Little Ferry is a town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 2,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The name "Little Ferry" originated from the fact that there was only one road crossing the river between its two towns: a ferryboat would transport goods between those two points. The first settlement in what is now Little Ferry occurred on July 4, 1788 when Captain John Smith and his command discovered land after sailing downriver from Burlington Heights. They named their new community "Huguenot." In 1802, Andrew Stevenson became the first person to purchase land in what is now Little Ferry Township and named it after himself - "Stevenson's Ford". He also built a house here. In 1820, he donated five acres (20,000 m²) of land to the township for use as a school district. This made Little Ferry Township one of Hunterdon County's earliest districts. This was also when Joseph McGowan became proprietor of the McGowan Brewery which still operates today in North Bridgefield Township within Little Ferry Borough boundaries. In 1830 McGowan donated an additional 5 acres (20,000 m²) to the township for use as a public square/parking lot and playground area known as McGowan Park today. Robert Haddon purchased 1/4 acre (0,22 km²) of this property in 1852 and called it Haddon Place; it remains home to Haddon Elementary School today and part of Central Camden Regional High School District #5 which serves parts of Camden City & East Camden neighborhoods including Rutgers University – Newark campus). Nowadays most people refer to either 'Little Ferry' or 'North Bridgefield Township' although some residents continue refer to all three entities collectively as simply 'the borough'. There are several explanations for this split: One explanation may be that while North Bridgefield Township encompasses most of what is currently known as Little Ferry Borough - with its historic buildings dating back over 400 years - much development has taken place since then outside of bounds set by North Bridgefield Township; whereas Little Ferry Borough retains more recent architecture and infrastructure; thereby expanding its boundaries somewhat geographically but not functionally (in other words, little has changed materially inside borough borders since they were set). Another reason why these boundaries have varied over time could stem from local politics: Depending on who you talk to about these issues - mostly civic-minded individuals who live within or know about either boroughs - both options seem plausible explanations for why certain areas within each borough contain more crime or development than others despite sharing same borders! For whatever reason though - regardless of whether it’s historically due to geography or political factors - aspects unique unto either borough make them identifiable by their respective residents even if they do not share common streetscape or ZIP code!

Little Ferry is a small town in New Jersey, on the Delaware River. It is located about northwest of Newark and southeast of Philadelphia. As of the 2010 Census, the population was 1,814. The name "Little Ferry" comes from two places: one is near where the river forks, the other being a ferry crossing over the river by Little Ferry Road. The first European settlers in this area were Dutch colonists who arrived in 1664 and named their community Utrecht after their home country. They soon abandoned it because of its difficult terrain and lack of water resources. In 1715, British colonists arrived at what is now Little Ferry and named it Bridgeport because they planned to build a bridge across the river there to connect Newark with Pennsylvania. But before they could begin construction, an Indian attack destroyed both bridges and linked Newark with Philadelphia for the first time. In 1776, during the American Revolution, General George Washington crossed the Delaware River at Little Ferry en route to campaign against British forces in northeastern Pennsylvania. About 2 miles upstream from his encampment at Belle Tiche (now part of Camden), he was met by Patriot militia led by Colonel John Lambert when they reached that location on July 11th during what became known as "The Battle at Belle Tiche." Washington's force routed Lambert's forces and drove them back intoPennsylvania; this event helped lead to his political rise to power in America later that year. After independence was granted to America on December 12th, 1776, Congress passed resolutions naming both Little Ferry Creek (now called Susquehanna) east of Princeton Avenue between Mercer Street and Market Street as Fort Duquesne Heights; also known as Fort Pitt Heights until 1812 when that fort was sold to Pittsburghs city government for use as ground troops during War of 1812). And finally on February 14th 1813 - just three days after President James K Polk signed Executive Order 9205 creating West Chester Township - West Chester Landing became part of little ferry township (later Easton Township). During most of its history littleferrytown consisted onlyof farmers living along either side oftheriverand trading goods withvarious villagealongtheeastcoastofNewjersey.(today'scantonincludesa portionoflittleferrytownalongthesouthcoastoftheDelawareRivershore). Significant infrastructure projects associated withexpansion includetheswimmingpool (),gaslighted intersections (),andnewchurch ().Whenwestchesteruniversitywasestablishedin1924itbecameoneofthestudyingplacesinthedeclineoftherepublicanparty(under Woodrow Wilson),anditsfacilitieswereutilizedbystudentsuntil1974whentheywere transferredto nearbyUnivitisCollege。OnApril91964newparks appearedonthesouthsideoftheDelawareshoreoverLITTLEFERRYCreekduringWaterfront Festival().Todaythereis aparkingplacecalledFenimorePark situatedjustoutsideofWestChester.(see map below) The earliest evidence for human habitation in this area dates back 10 thousand years ago according to excavations conducted by anthropologist Dr Harry Smith within Folsom Park near today's Cedar Knob Wildlife Preserve off Interstate 95 outside Trenton NJ . At least 10 caves were discovered within two kilometers radius including those beneath Folsom Park which date back 4 million years! In prehistoric times these areas likely supported large herds of Elk or other game animals which may have been hunted using bows and arrows or Nets! Today you can see some remnants including arrowheads left behind from ancient hunting operations right here in our town!
