Lindenwold is a small town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,890 at the 2010 census. Lindenwold is part of the Newark-Dolton Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first European settlers arrived in what is now Lindenwold Township on December 5, 1784, by ship from Long Island. They were traders and Loyalists who had fled British rule in South Carolina during the American Revolution. James Smith and his family founded the township on May 10, 1814. At that time it included present-day Lindenwold as well as parts of Ridgefield Township and Caldwell Township; it was known then as "Nova Scotia Township". On February 26, 1831, it became a separate municipality under the name of "Lindenwald." In 1881, when New Jersey granted its statehood to the United States, Lindenwald voted to become a state capital city; but because Trenton had more residents (921), this vote failed to pass. In 1907 however Albany was chosen as the new state capital due to community support for that choice over Trenton. As a result of this decision by New Jersey's Governor Woodrow Wilson and acting State Treasurer John Fenton Jr., Linderwald lost its status as an incorporated municipality within New Jersey but retained its right to vote in statewide elections until 1987 when all municipalities within New Jersey gained equal voting rights with each other pursuant to section 3 of Act No. 94-550 (the NJ Municipal Election Code). In 1978 Linderwald erected a tall tower which still stands today – measuring 210 feet high – as part of its celebration of 175 years since incorporation into Middlesex County and 7 years after becoming an unincorporated municipality status quo unchanged by legislation granting equal voting rights municipally withinNewJersey! This tower also marks one point where municipal boundaries have not changed materially since 1895 despite growth rates three times greater than those experienced among settlements withinNewJersey! Today there are only 2 inhabitants living inLinderwald limits while Morris Plains has grown 4x with 100 current residents! It would be irresponsible not too recognize these accomplishments while continuing forward with planning/development opportunities available through local government’s role in economic development?

Lindenwold is a small town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census. Lindenwold is situated on the border of Hunterdon and Morris counties and is northwest of Hackensack. The first European settlers to what is now Lindenwold were Germans who arrived in 1723 from Ansbach, Germany. Benjamin Weischedel (1724-1799), one of the original settlers of what became Lindenwold, was born there. In 1787, George Washington's youngest son John Trumbull moved to Lindenwold with his family after becoming disenchanted with life in Philadelphia. The Trumbulls remained for many years and built a home on Main Street which still stands today. In 1812 Moria Ladd left her farmstead east of present day Center Township and took up a position as schoolmistress in what would become known as Lindenwald Township (now part of Hunterdon County). She taught until 1827 when she retired to live permanently at her farmstead near the intersection of Northampton Road and Easton Road. Mrs. Ladd also raised chickens and pigs which she sold through her door from1812-1825; this was an early form of commerce in that area According to history books published around 1800, General James Wilkinson had a plantation called "Wilkinson's Neck" located just south of modern-day Uniontown on Staten Island where he earned income by shipping goods out to New York City via the port at Staten Island Ferry dock during the days before railroads came into being
Lindenwold was founded in 1796 by Nicholas Linden and his wife, Sarah. It became a town in 1819 and was incorporated as a borough in 1834. The population of Lindenwold increased to over 10,000 by the end of the 19th century. In 1907, the borough was merged with neighboring Girard Township to form Girard Borough.
