In recent years Lindenwald's economy has been diversified with new businesses opening up such as a fitness center/spa called Nourish Health & Fitness Blumenthal which opened in March 2018 adjacent to Sacred Heart Catholic Church; an insurance agency called McDermott Insurance Agency which opened in May 2018 opposite Trump National Golf Club; a hair salon called Cutco Hair Salon which opened in October 2018 adjacent to Stroud MiddleSchool; an Italian restaurant called L'Osteria della Scala which opened in November 2018 adjacent to Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Parish;and finally another health club/fitness center called Wellness World whose doors open up soon adjacent Great Valley Charter Academy!

Lindenwold lies on the border of Mercer and Hunterdon counties and is bordered by the municipalities of Bound Brook to the east, East Brunswick to the north, and Highland Heights to the west. The first documented reference to Lindenwold dates back to 1098 when it was part of what was then called Flanders. The village's name derives from two Dutch words: "Linden" meaning willow tree and "Woud" meaning wood or estate. In 1664, English settlers founded a settlement known as West Hackensack which later became Paramus. In 1834, an act of Congress placed Mercer County within New Jersey as part of its efforts to create a strong central government. As New Jersey grew increasingly rural, Lindenwold's importance declined until it regained some of its former stature around World War II when manufacturing activity increased in nearby Camden and Bridgewater Township. Today Lindenwold remains primarily agricultural with a few light industrial businesses scattered throughout its Village along with some homes built after 1945 that still retain their original shutters and windowsills
