Lincoln Park is a public park in the borough of Jersey City, New Jersey. The park was created in 1892 by developer and politician Abraham Lincoln. It covers an area of 9.5 square miles (25 square kilometers). With a total of over 350,000 visitors per year, it is one of the most popular parks in New Jersey. The park's name comes from President Abraham Lincoln's home state of Illinois. His family had long resided there and he was born in Normal Township on the border of Illinois and Indiana. When he became president, his first act was to order that all federal lands within 10 miles (16 km) of his home be divided into two halves: one would go to Illinois for him and his wife Mary Anna; the other would go to Maryland for commonwealths like Pennsylvania and Delaware. This gave rise to what is now known as "Lincoln Park" because most of it lay within Chicago's limits when it was acquired by New York in 1837. Lincoln Park originally consisted only of a small part of today's site where the current Lincoln Memorial stands today - including smaller parcels east and west of the Reflecting Pool that were donated by private individuals or governments such as Austria-Hungary, Germany, Sweden and Denmark - as well as a few acres north center which served as an animal farm until 1888 when construction began on what is now Union Station. The final resting place for both Presidents Washington and John Adams also formed part of this initial acreage donated by these Governments – making it possible for people living near either Capitol Building at that time to visit them without traveling too far away during my day! Lincoln Park is a large, residential area in the town of Lincoln Heights, New Jersey, United States. It was created from parts of Harding and Lincoln High Schools and is home to many popular shopping and dining options as well as a number of public parks. The neighborhood was named after Ulysses S. Grant's second term President, Abraham Lincoln. The first occupants of the land that would become Lincoln Park were farmers who grew corn and beans on their farmsteads located east of present-day Washington Boulevard. In 1836, four men - George Washington Harding, Joshua Speed Morse, James Prentice Howe - purchased 1/2 mile (1 kilometer) north of where Harding School now stands from John D'Arcy McGee and Others for $5 per acre (0.24 hectares). They formed a company called the Holland Land Company to purchase more land; by 1840 they had acquired 4 acres (16 kilometers²). The group named their new community "Harding" in honor of Ulysses S. Grant's first term president and predecessor to Abraham Lincoln as President of the United States. In 1845, thanks to designs by noted architect Nicholas-Jacques Conte and engineer John Witherspoon Foster, Harding Elementary School was built on what is now North Avenue between East 132nd Street and East 133rd Street in what is now part of the University Heights section of Lincoln Heights. The school soon became one of eastern New Jersey's most important educational institutions with nearly 2200 students enrolled at its peak in 1865; it closed its doors in 1936 due to budget cuts brought about by then Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia's administration during the Great Depression. During World War II, Harding Elementary School served as an American military training center providing cadets with basic infantry skills until 1945 when it reverted back to civilian use as an elementary school again; today it remains a local favorite among parents for bring their children here for pre-kindergarten through eighth grade classes prior to attending high school or going on to college or other professional endeavors After returning home from his service with distinction at Iwo Jima he became Roosevelt’s Ambassador Extraordinary at Madrid which also included charge d’affaires service in Spain Lincoln High School opened May 11th 1870 with grades 9th thru 12th being taught by Mr J H Woodruff who resigned because he could not get along wit Mrs Moody A new building was built next door which still stands today known as Mrs Moody’s Annexe which housed our science class & math class until we moved out around 1966 when SEPTA came along & started serving all schools within SEPTA boundaries .
