The history of holsters in Lincoln Park, New Jersey goes back to the early 1800s. At that time, pistols were popularized as personal weapons and holster companies sprang up to provide these firearms with protection. In 1833, Abraham Lincoln was inauguration president and his pistol was carried in a holster on his waistband. This holster is still extant today and can be seen at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. In 1892, the city of Newark bought land near The Star-Ledger Newspaper Building for development into a new city center. The cornerstone for the new City Hall was laid on October 25th of that year by Mayor John Fenton. The first public meeting held in the new City Hall took place on November 1st with Mayor Fenton presiding over the meeting from his throne room which overlooks Constitution Avenue. Mayor Fenton also sponsored a bill that would make it illegal for anyone under 21 years old to purchase or possess handguns without a license from a gun dealer. This law became known as the "Fenton Law." In 1912, Holster Company made their presence felt when they opened their first business within walking distance of Union Station in Newark – right next door to where then Newark mayor James Jealous now sits (and where he continues to reside). From 1911 until 1925, Holster Company operated out of what is now called “The Center” business park located just off Route 9W serving as headquarters for all operations throughout eastern New Jersey including Camden and Brick Township In 1923, Holster Company relocated its entire manufacturing operation from Rahway NJ to Springfield MA due to increased competition from firearm manufacturers coming ontothe scene following World War II . After 31 years of manufacturing excellence at Rahway NJ we closed our doors effective September 15th 2005 after producing over 350 million holsters! We are proudest achievement however never stopped making custom products which continue today under our own name – Holster USA
