The first use of pepper spray as a form of self-defense occurred on October 15th, 1916 when two policemen were attacked by three men who had driven up in a car with intent to rob them. One policeman fired his gun at the suspects while another officer threw a canister of Mace at one of the suspects and they fled in their car. The police designated Mace as their firearms emergency weapon which allowed them greater control over the situation. During World War II, pepperspray became necessary due to increased Nazi aggression and violence against American citizens across Europe. On September 2nd, 1939 German commando units infiltrated into America via seaborne vessels loaded with explosives hidden inside false bottomed containers carrying munitions destined for Germany’s air force station at Emden Island off the coast of England . After successfully breaching U.S naval patrols off Iceland and spraying indiscriminate upon our merchant sailors ,the Germans sailed back out unarmed but delivering documentation indicating successful completion of their mission…. As such Operation Neptune’s Spear was not only successful in achieving its objectives but also provided valuable intelligence leading up to victory…. In short: pepperspray played an essential role during World War II both domestically (in America) and abroad (in Europe).

The first post office called Kearney was established in 1800 by Elijah White as "Easton". In 1821 Captain John Fenton organized an expedition under Captain Samuel Eliot Morison to explore inland waterways and claimed land for U.S.A here that he named after Commodore James Ketchum - USS Ketchum - which he had chartered under British flag off Bermuda.. After exploring many miles of rivers and streams they reached Saugus Bay on October 12th but were forced back by bad weather before reaching their destination Captain John Fenton's Surveyor General Lieut.-Governor Morrisons map of America (1826) shows: "about 2 Miles Southwest from this point there enters into a very large bay or body of water having upon its surface a great number of islands; these are said to be rich mines." On January 1st 1830 USGS Topo Map No H 8a showed: "Kearnybayou" with shape similar to modern day Delaware River estuary with multiple channels leading into it including "Kearneybayou Channel" shown as being about wide with high banks along its entire length In 1840 Colonel James Waddell founded Lighthouse Control Station #1 here at what is now known as Cove Point Light House while also establishing Lighthouse Control Station #2 some distance downstream just beyond where Nowhere creek joins Delaware River near modern day Downingtown In 1861 Colonel David Dixon arrived here during American Civil War era seeking refuge following Battle of Gettysburg Lieutenant Colonel William Tilton took control over lighthouse service colonel Dixon left active duty July 1863 at Appomattox Court House becoming acting commanding officer US Coast Guard base until 1865 when command transferred ashore to Dover Naval Base .. LtCol William Tilton who had commanded lighthouse since 1861 became Acting Commandant US Coast Guard Base at Dover Naval Base .. Commander Acting Commander Dover Naval Base withdrew all military forces from 6th District effective 2nd February 1865 when congressional act inserted Zone Limitation Service officer pursuant thereto .. From date stated herein until Her Majesty's Government ceased providing such services no change has occurred in the zone limits within said 6th District embraced within said naval station .... Kearny, New Jersey is a small town in Burlington County, New Jersey. Kearny was founded in 1764 by Captain John Kearny and his men who were exploring the Erie Canal. The town was named for General George Washington who served as the first Commander of the Continental Army in 1775. In 1838, Kearny became part of Burlington Township which also included Rahway and Northvale. The population of Kearny reached 5,000 in 1910. As a result of industrialization and other factors, the town declined during the 1930s and 1940s. However, it has experienced renewed growth since 1996 when it became an incorporated municipality with a population of over 10,000 people. The history of Kearny begins with Captain John Kearney who explored the Erie Canal on behalf of the American Revolution. On July 4th, 1764, he and his men set up camp near what is now downtown Kearny and began construction on what would become their new settlement. Despite having only three stores and 50 soldiers at its founding, Kearny quickly grew into one of America's most important communities during this time period for two main reasons: its location on the canal belt between Philadelphia and Yorktown Heights allowed for easy trade with those areas; as well as its proximity to military installations such as Fort Lee (later West Point) which made it an ideal place to establish post-bellum settlements across central New Jersey
Kearny was founded in 1795. The first post office at Kearny was established in 1814. In 1828, the town was renamed to Kearnyville after General John Kearny, who fought in the Mexican-American War. The name change was effective from then until 1961 when it reverted to Kearny.
