Kearny, New Jersey is located in Union County and is the second most populous town in the state of New Jersey. As of the 2010 census, Kearny had a population of 103,161. The town was founded by Europeans in 1788 as part of what is now called Easton Township and quickly grew into a busy center for trade. In 1851, Kearny became an incorporated town and began to specialize in manufacturing goods for export to Europe. One of the most famous products made here was the Colt revolver. The company continued to produce firearms here until 1896 when it moved its operations overseas. It wasn’t until 1938 that the last firearm production plant closed down in Kearny after years of decline due to competition from other towns in New Jersey with similar populations. Today, much of what used to make up Kearny were abandoned or destroyed during Prohibition-era vandalism and neglect. The only thing remaining are some foundations and a few small homes that have been preserved as part of a program led by the National Park Service which owns and operates Kearny State Beach. In 1929, the " Newark Rifle and Pistol Club" merged with another organization, the "Kearnysville Rifle and Shotgun Association." This organization served as the second rifle club in Kearny. The final NRA-affiliated rifle club in Kearney was founded in 1951 when it merged with another organization, the "Harrison Gunsmiths Association." This organization served as the third rifle club in Kearney.

The community was originally called "Mountain View", and was renamed Kearny after General John Kearny who fought in the American Revolution. Kearny has several industries, including: agriculture (livestock, poultry, etc.), construction/building materials, and warehousing/ware-processing plants. One of the most important businesses in Kearny is the Knopp family's grocery store which has been in operation since 1898. Other prominent businesses include: First National Bank (1910), Masonic Temple (1890), Presbyterian Church (1896), and Mount Olivet Lutheran Church (1912). The local elementary school is Park Avenue Elementary School which serves students from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. The secondary school for students 9th through 12th grades is Stroudsburg Area Senior High School which serves students from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade as well as adult learners. There are also three charter schools that serve students from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade: Edison Middle School Charter Schools, Holy Cross Catholic Academy Charter School, and Saint Anthony's School of Technology Charter School; and two technical schools which serve students from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade: Messiah College Preparatory Academy and La Salle Technical Institute - Lower Valley Campus

Kearny, New Jersey is a borough located in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. It was formed on November 3, 1834 from the merger of three villages – Kearny Township, Easton Township and West Egg Township. The population of Kearny was 927 at the 2000 census. The first Europeans to visit what is now Kearny were French traders travelling up the Delaware River in search of new trade routes. In 1677 Dutch traders founded a settlement at present-day Easton, Pennsylvania and by 1713 had established a trading post at West Egg on Long Island Sound. On October 29, 1714 John Smith (1644-1718), an American surveyor and historian who explored much of what is now New York State for the British Crown, discovered and mapped the area that would later become Kearny township. In 1834, Congress passed an act authorizing the formation of three townships within Hunterdon County: Kearny Township from east to west; Easton Township from north to south; and West Egg Township from east to west. The first meeting of the township committee took place on November 3rd. By December 4th all but one member had been elected and it became effective on December 5th when all residents were allowed to vote in a referendum on whether they wanted their town incorporated into either Hunterdon or Morris counties. The vote was narrowly in favor - 8 out of 10 residents voted in support of incorporation into Morris county while only 2 out of 10 residents voted in favor of incorporation into Hunterdon county due to lack political clout within those counties at that time (Morris County was then part of Monmouth County). The growth and development of Kearny began slowly but surely as businesses opened up along Route 23 which ran through its center – this led to increasing traffic volumes which also created difficulties with transportation for residents living near Routes 23/811 which served as main artery for goods flowing between northernNew Jersey and southernPennsylvania during this time period. Some early entrepreneurs who invested in early industrialization such as Harry Dolan started production around this time including gristmills, tanneries, breweries etc., many contributing significantly to early economic development within Kearney township over time. One early entrepreneur who played a significant role in developing early commercial activity within Kearney township was James Whelan whose familyowned tannery became one of the most successful tanneries in America during this time period thanks largely to their innovative marketing techniques including using local farmers markets as well as national chain stores such as JCPenney where they sold both hides and leather products throughout eastern Pennsylvania during this era Additionally Whelan also developed multiple small businesses providing services such as bricklaying/building repair/maintenance alongside his Tannery until his death circa 1925 At approximatelythis time many other families following similar Patterns also exited stage right after becoming overextended with built up resources leading some eventually selling off their businesses or merging with others creating conglomerates which continue today albeit under different names
Kearny was founded in 1798 by Captain John Kearny and his family. The Kearneys were the first European settlers in the area. In 1824, the town was renamed after Major General George Washington, who had fought in the American Revolution. The town grew rapidly during the 1800s and reached its peak population of 15,000 in 1871. However, it declined following World War I and a series of economic crashes. The population fell to 10,000 by the end of the 1960s and 5,000 by 1990. By 2010, it had shrunk to 1,500 people.
