The town was founded by Loyalists who fled Rhode Island during the American Revolution. The first settlers were Nathaniel Kean and his wife Esther Jacobs Kean and their children Isaac and Rebecca Kean. They arrived in 1777 from what is now Westchester County, New York. In 1781, they set up a gristmill on the Susquehanna River and started to sell flour to local farmers. In 1802, they built a post office and in 1814 an academy for boys. In 1820-21, they erected a Methodist church and in 1830 opened a store. During the 19th century, Keansburg grew as an agricultural center with a large cotton crop and production of woolen goods such as socks and overalls. A steamboat landing was developed along the Susquehanna River in 1857 which led to increased tourism; today's commercial attractions include Olde Worlde Clothing shopping mall (now known as Mills Mall), Keansburg Park (a botanical garden), KFC chicken restaurant/grill complex (now known as Pfeffer's Place) on Route 9A near Interstate 95, The Great Eastern Railroad Depot that served as an Amtrak stop for many years before being leased by Penn Railways in 1984-1985, music venue NME Live which closed down in 2006 but has been used for other events such as charity fundraiser functions at nearby Citizens Bank Park since 2007 until it was demolished early last year; multiple bowling alleys including Asbury Lanes which remain open while undergoing renovations; Dairy Queen where ice cream cones are sold out every day right outside their doors; numerous stores including 14 Foot Spa & Salon located just off of Route 9A exit #2 leading into town Limits - now home to several antique shops - Main Street Centerville ran from downtown until about 1955 when it split off into two directions with one going east towards Bound Brook Township then turning northwest towards Easton before rejoining downtown again near Walmart; businesses that have closed down or changed ownership over time include: Henni’s Chinese Take Out next door to Butters' Donuts on Main Street back when it was owned by Mrs Henni's husband Benny who also ran another Chinese take out place across the street called China Cats next door before moving next door to Subway once it became popularized there after becoming co-owned by Subway founder Tony Montalbano's father Salvatore Montalbano Keansburg is home to several churches including Congregationalist Church of Christ on Main Street (), Presbyterian Church of America () on Broadwalk (), Methodist Episcopal Church (); Baptist Churches of America (); Jehovah's Witnesses (); Evangelical Lutheran Synod (). Keansburg is a small town in Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 7,606 at the 2010 census. The town was founded by Henry Kean in 1776 and named for him. It was incorporated as a borough on March 6, 1868, from portions of Middlesex Township. On November 3, 1922, Keansburg merged with the adjacent village of Edison to form the new city of Edison. On July 1, 1995, the city of Edison merged with nearby Paterson to form the combined municipality of Paterson-Edison. The original land grant for Keansburg included 1/2 mile (1 km) along what is now Bloomfield Avenue and 2 miles (3 km) on each side of Route 9W between present-day Blossom Road and Route 202A. The first settler in Keansburg was John Pritchard who arrived in 1776 and built a cabin on what is now Saugus Road near where Bloomfield Avenue would later be located. In 1802 James Monaghan set up shop at what is now Rte 202A and opened up his store which became known as "the Monaghan Store." In 1807 Isaac Sears established himself at what is now Saugus Road and opened up his store which became known as "Sears' Store." In 1812 John Atherton bought out Isaac Sears's interest in "the Monaghan Store" and began trading as "John Atherton's Stores." In 1865 George Washington Carver came from Illinois to work on a farm called "Carver's Farm" east ofpresent-day Keansburg. He continued working there until 1870 when he moved to another farm called "Washington's Farm". There he started raising chickens that were later sold to the Mercer family who kept them until 1916 when they gave them away to the townspeople for free. The first grocery store in Keansburg opened its doors in 1886 under the name "Grocery Bay". By 1897 it had become known as "The Mercers'. In 1915 Haddon Heights Drive was completed connecting South Brunswick Township with East Brunswick Township throughKeansburg Plaza Shopping Center south of Market Street . At that time this area also housed two movie theaters one operated by Hoyt & Co., Incorporated; Theaters I & II were just east off Main Street opposite Borough Hall;[now closed]and one operated by Keystone pictures Corporporated - both located behind local high school building today.......After World War II almost all manufacturing stopped except for some light industry.......Today Keesborough has 4 schools: Edison Valley Middle School - open enrollment since September 2006; Scioto Hills Regional High School - open enrollment since February 2007; South Brunswick Middle School - open enrollment since September 2006.........Most businesses have closed down or moved into other towns since then.........Keesborough has been an unincorporated community since 1951...........

Keansburg is a borough in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 2,362 at the 2010 census. The first settlements in Keansburg were made around 1800 on the banks of the Delaware River. By 1824, most of what is now Keansburg had been annexed by Elizabeth City Township and it became part ofMorris County on January 1, 1829. On December 12, 1834, a group of men from Elizabeth City Township petitioned the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders to form a new township called "Keansburg". The board granted the request and on January 1, 1835, Keansburg was formed as a separate municipality with its own government and town hall. In 1892-93 an effort was made to improve transportation between Elizabeth City and Morristown by building two roads; one ran through what is now Keansburg and another passed through Crossings Road (now Newark Avenue) inElizabeth City. These road improvements resulted in increased trade betweenElizabeth City and Morristown which led to more jobs for residents in Keansborough. In 1896-97 an effort was also made to build a railroad line connecting Elizabeth City with Morristown but this project never came to fruition because of financial reasons. The first post office opened in Keansboro on October 26, 1850; however it closed within one year due to high postal rates demanded by other towns in Morris County. The first store in town open until 1860 was built by three brothers named John Kappelmeyer – John Pappelmeyer Store No2 – John Kappelmeyer Store No3 – all located at 511 Church Street (now home to Community Christian School). The first street name given to the town was Main Street which served as the main artery into town from Elizabeth City up until 1865 when it became known as Delaware Avenue after then-Governor James Broome's road improvement campaign that widened Delaware River crossings near where Main Street crossed it. On July 16th 1870 during Reconstruction efforts following America's Civil WarKeanskburger peasants started fires along Southern Railroad tracks just east of present day White Horse Pikein order Confederate soldiers passing through their village could not see them fire
