In 1868, a sawmill in Keansburg was built. That same year, the first railroad was constructed in the area and it made Keansburg an important town. The railroad allowed for more goods to be brought into and out of the town and it also created new opportunities for people. In 1903, the first post office was established in Keansburg. In 1923,Keansburg became a borough.
Keansburg is a small town located in Hackensack County, New Jersey. It is one of the few remaining towns in the county that was settled by English colonists. The first European to set foot in what is now Keansburg was John Kean, who arrived on July 10, 1686. At the time, the area was part of Setauket Township and he named his new settlement for his home town of Keanstown in Suffolk, England. The population of Keansburg increased rapidly from early 1800s until its peak around 1900s when it reached over 1,500 people. However, after World War II it gradually declined as more and more people left for other parts of NJ or Pennsylvania. Today, the population remains below 500 with a handful of elderly residents still living there. In 1824 John Pemberton founded an academy which later became known as Pemberton Academy School (now Keansburg Community High School). He also erected a wharf on what is now Riverside Drive to serve as a landing place for boatloads of goods coming downriver from points northward. This development led to the nickname "Township Pier" because so many businesses were established here during those years. In 1829 Robert Morris donated land at present-day Route 523 and Main Street to form a public square which would be used for markets and other functions such as dances and social gatherings among farmers and their families. The square became known as Morris Square within a few years due to this dedication by our founder's son-in-law Robert Morris himself! In 1875 John Fenton donated land at present day Spring streetsouthwest side for use as an Agricultural College ground where students could learn how to farm! By 1890 only 4 buildings remained on site including the Offutt House which served as college president's quarters until 1912 when it burned down! Today you can still see some evidence from that period including remnants of old fences and barns along with several outbuildings dating back to that time including an agricultural Laboratory building now used by Southmoor Regional High School! One very interesting fact about this Period is that both Presbyterian Unitarian Church (now First United Methodist)and Episcopal Church were built here concurrently ! They started construction simultaneously but didn't actually meet in person until after John Fenton's death !! In fact right before they did so they held their first service inside Mr. Offutt's house ! A very impressive accomplishment indeed !!
Scope mounts are a type of mounting device used to attach an adjustable rifle scope to the barrel of a firearm. They were first designed in the early 1800s by Major George Stephenson and patented in 1814. A variety of different mount types have been developed over the years, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. The most common type today is the Weaver-style scope mount, which employs two panels that fit into recesses on either side of the barrel. It is typically attached using four screws through a hole in the backpanel, which then twists around to secure it in place. The downside to this type of mount is that it requires modification or removal of your rifle’s action to change magnification levels; also, it can be difficult to adjust for windage and elevation without taking down your gun altogether. A more recent innovation is the Barrett New World Scope Mount, which employes three panels that fit onto either side of the barrel. This method allows for much easier adjustment for windage and elevation than traditional Weaver mounts, as well as greater compatibility with aftermarket optics. Additionally, because it uses differently shaped tabs on both sides of the mount, it is less likely to cause damage when attaching or removing optic attachments. However, due to its complicated design and slightly higher price point compared to other mounts available on the market, this type ofscope mount may not be suitable for all firearms.
The first expandable mount was the Hale-Bopp telescope mount. This mount allowed for up to four telescopes to be placed on it, allowing for a greater view of the sky. Other types of mounts followed, such as the Newtonian reflector and equatorial mounts. The Equatorial Mount was created in 1924 by William Hildebrandt and is still in use today.
Keansburg is a borough in Union County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 9,663 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark-Trenton metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in Keansburg was Joseph Kean, who arrived in 1788 and erected a log cabin on Little Ferry Creek. He later built a gristmill and other small businesses in the town. In 1812, John Kean settled in what is now Keansburg and became its first mayor. In 1827, he donated land to form the boroughs of Hackensack and Uniontown; both towns were incorporated as municipalities on December 14th of that year. In 1898, work started on what would become known as "The Star-Spangled Banner" Bridge over the Passaic River; it crossed under US 1 near today's intersection of Main Street and Cedar Avenue before reaching its present location at Park Avenue/Route 11 just east of where it crossed into Gladstone Township (now Irvington). The bridge cost $1 million to build and opened to traffic on July 15th, 1899. The Borough elected its first Mayor & Council members from single-member districts; this method remained until 1913 when council districts were introduced for partisan representation (the Borough had been nonpartisan since 1886). One major development during the early years ofKeansburg was the construction of two schools – one for boys and one for girls – which opened in 1903/04: Drury School for Boys (later Harvey Mudd School) on Clinton Street between Orange Boulevard and Market Place East; Andover Female School (later Donelson Senior High School) on Spring Garden Avenue between Dutchmans Road/Route 517A and Seton Avenue near today's Walmart headquarters south of Route 11 (then called Summit Ave.). This school system served all residents within the borough until 1951 when Donelson Senior High closed due to budget cuts caused by suburbanization efforts throughout much of New Jersey One significant event during these years occurred when Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt visitedKeansburg as part of her "I'M Not A newcomer Yet" campaign tour - she delivered a speech atDonelson Senior High which helped prepare students for their upcoming meeting with President Franklin D Roosevelt later that day!
